We went in 5:15 and got out at 7:15pm Saturday. 1++ hours waiting on food. They couldn't bring the appetizer before the meal. The food tasted good but the staff can't handle the work. Lots of people apologizing repeatedly kinda put a damper on us enjoying going out together. The tea was less than 5 minutes to our table but they apologized twice. Everyone else was waiting over an hour before their food was brought. The restaurant was kept at about 1/2 full (lots of people standing in lobby) Anyway we'll try it again in a few weeks but they were still clearly not ready to open or cook food at the end of their second week. We got about 15 apologies and we're just overloaded with them interrupting us for apologies. Our food was waiting for the salmon to cook. Then 15 minutes later they said our food was plated (oh so fancy) and then 20 minutes later they brought the food so they were not good at making excuses, all the food was hot when it came but we were so excited to go but let down by the long waits and many excuses from 2 waiters, the manager, other staff. We were relaxed when there so the apologies and excuses of the staff cooking weren't used to working together. My wife got the wrong entree and asked for something else but it took 20 more minutes my wife just had green beans and mashed potatoes. Any other restaurant we would have walked out. Food tasted very good except the green beans were like out of a can with no seasoning. The green chili grits were spicy at about medium level but were very good! Avoid grits if you don't like spicy. Salmon cooked perfectly and not overdone like most Kaufman and Terrell restaurants. Cowboy caviar (excellent and non spicy) wasn't spicy and my wife liked that and so did I. If you're diabetic then plan on only having bread for an hour. Every other customer got the same apologies all around us and we watched and timed that there food took over an hour. Would have been good atmosphere but it was a lot of work taking so many apologies. I hope they get it together, they were not ready for having the...

Met the hostess first - she PROMPTLY greeted us on arrival, stopped what she was doing, inquired about number of guests, and escorted us to our seats, making sure she sat us in a nice location. Ample seating.... ample waiting area, and the seating and tables are not shoved on top of each other.
Met Denise [our server] and the Baumgartner family tonight. Denise was the best server ever.
We are so thankful we took the opportunity to drive to Kaufman and look around.
Tucked away on a little side street, we found the PERFECT LOCAL DINER! Listed as B&B Steakhouse, consider it your new favorite local diner because it has all the warm and fuzzy feels of a diner! Except think swanky cloth napkins and a lovely view of the square and remodeling of the Kaufman County Courthouse on the square!
I selected the Beef Straganoff, homemade 😋 and the chunk of meat was a good portion of short rib, seemed about 4 to 6 oz.
My significant other selected the Rotisserie Chicken, and said it was both tender and moist, the green beans were flavorful and delicious, and the potatoes were good, not bland.
We did not have room for dessert, but do check out that menu as we noted there was a large dessert selection.
If paying by CARD, pay at your table. Cash check with your server WHERE to pay.
On exit, we signed up for a raffle, and Mr. Dwayne invited us to view the meat case and meat market products.
Do make it a point to go see the MEAT DISPLAY CASE ON THE ENTRANCE SIDE OF THE RESTAURANT BECAUSE the case displays the food you may select to eat.
Chris Baumgartner told us he bred and raised the cattle, which was FORK TENDER.
Do yourself a favor, GO!
We will go back. 🚶♂️ 🚶♀️

Read moreMy husband and I came in for lunch at B&B. Overall we really enjoyed our meal! We started with the sourdough loaf appetizer with whipped butter. My husband had the top sirloin and a baked potato. I had the French dip sandwich which came with frys. We also added a side garden salad. Everything was very high quality. The bread was so fresh and the ranch dressing was very good. I could tell that not only the dressing was made in house but I suspected the bread and whipped butter may also have been. I asked the server and she confirmed that the sourdough loaf and the sandwich bread was made in house as well as the butter. (The butter really did have an amazing flavor ) The top sirloin had a nice seasoning to it, not overpowering, just enough to enhance the flavor of the beef. The only thing we did not care for was the blue cheese dressing. We wanted to try both the ranch and blue cheese and the blue cheese was a bit too tangy for my personal preference. Most of the time I eat low carb and usually order a salad when I eat out, so I am all about a good home made dressing. I will order the ranch next visit. The house salad was very fresh with lettuce, cucumber, red and yellow tomatoes, purple onion and croutons. (I will ask them to hold the onions next time if possible. ) We very much enjoy our lunch and look forward to having the opportunity to try the steak options off the dinner menu next...
