Detour — Restaurant in Kaufman

We have been looking forward to trying this place for a while now. It looks like an old school drive up. It does look a bit run down. But looks clean. Our server was very friendly and helpful as we explained it was our first time. We placed an order for two burgers with cheese: a Detour with cheddar and one with no pickles, no onions, no Detour sauce add pepper jack and a root beer float. Service was very quick. However, we were sadly disappointed with our burgers when we opened them up. The regular Detour with cheddar had just one old, old shriveled piece of lettuce, two pieces of cut ring red onions and was so hastily thrown together that it was a mess. Plus the bottom of the bun was so wet with grease and , I guess, juice. it was useless trying to use it to hold onto my burger. It got trashed along with the shriveled piece of lettuce. Second burger was hastily thrown together, as well, but no soggy bottom. But was, also, very greasy burger. The float was not the best I have ever had. It was one small scoop of ice cream with lots root beer. Eh, we will skip this place from now on. Better burgers just down the street. It's really not that hard to make a good burger and a nice presentation with it. Just not worth coming back. Too many other good options...

As a rule of thumb I give every establishment three to four visits before writing a review. Each time I've come to Detour there has been an excessive wait from start to finish. At first I credited that to them just opening and having a brand new staff and process. I returned a few months later and I had the same issue with a long wait to have someone take my order to the actual wait for my food to be brought out to me. I have gone back several times and faced the same issue. I understand understaffing issues during this time, but this has been an issue since they opened.

I really do enjoy the food and the milkshakes are one of my favorite around, which is why I keep returning. I just wish the wait and customer service from the servers were better otherwise this would be an easy 5...

First time being there the girl came in offer me the menu was great she took my order I placed it I paid for it. About 20 minutes pass by my order never showed up all the other cars around me were getting their orders but me. A young guy came out apologize to me and told me that my order was given to another car and that they’re remaking my order never confirmed what was my order they made a order that was not mine. Young guy said they can not do a refund and told me they will give me a free ice cream and am like no I already order a cup with my order. Still did not confirm my order. So, I have the girl $20 and never got my change nor a refund. The burger they made me I could not eat because it was not the burger I order it had red onions. Tried calling today...
