New Happy Garden — Restaurant in Keansburg

I’ve been going here for more than 20 years and the only reason is because the food is usually good. Unfortunately a lot of the negative reviews are very true. The owners, especially the wife, will argue with you until they’re blue in the face if you tell them something is wrong with the shrimp, etc. I had to put up quite a fuss just to get them to give me my money back for bad shrimp. They are quite unfriendly most of the time I order from them. If I order on the phone she rarely says thank you and sometimes just hangs up on me after I place the order and I hear her saying “Thank you” all the time while she’s on the phone taking orders. The wife will say “Thank you!” or “Goodbye” to the customer’s before me and when I go up to her to pay, she gives me a dead stare, takes my credit card and if she has to give me a pen to sign the slip, she throws it on the counter toward my hand. During the holidays she wishes the customers before me and on the phone a Merry Christmas or Happy Easter but nothing to me. I even go out of the way to say hello and goodbye or Merry Christmas but all I hear are crickets. I’ve returned home with orders that they forgot to put rice in or whatever else and they tell me to come back to pick it up. The wife apologized only once for that. I feel totally discriminated against. I know I shouldn’t be going back there and I did boycott it for a but their food is better than most of the Chinese places around here. Maybe I’ll open my own Chinese...

First off the lady answering the phone is absolutely terrible that customer service is terrible I was being very nice she was screaming at me calling me names telling me she has people like that all the time. Very unprofessional and rude. Had to call back due to my order because it was not ordered right because nothing was explained to me. I ordered three combination platters and one dinner and received one egg roll band called back and was screamed at refuse to let me speak to a manager or a boss. The food is absolutely disgusting I asked for my food to be cooked a specific way and they couldn’t even do that. She also continued how it’s America and she don’t have to let me talk to a boss. There has been many many issues at this place as she said she gets many people like me and called me a Karen so I guess I’m not the only one complaining about their service. This is absolutely horrible I pay $80 for four combination platters with no egg rolls. And get charged for side rice that comes with my combination lol and give a good tip. That is outrageous I could have went to have a nice steak dinner. I will also show how my one dinner came it looks like someone touched my rice and moved my chicken but that could have been the driver with the way he was driving. Highly do...

Food is good however the service is terrible!!! Went in to order my food and realized I had circled the wrong thing. I circled "Shrimp in garlic sauce". So I tell the girl at the counter what I was looking for. She acted like she understood..I would hope so because we both are fluent in English. I asked for shrimp with broccoli in garlic sauce. Nothing crazy. I get home and realize they gave me shrimp with mixed vegetables. I call the store to explain that I had the wrong order and this guy gets on the phone yelling at me telling me it was my mistake for circling the wrong thing!! I tried to explain to him that I verbally told the girl exactly what I was looking for. If she knew as she said she did, she could have relayed it to the guy but to cover her rear she twisted the words to make it seem like she made me aware that there were mixed vegetables with the garlic sauce. Don't waste your money here when they will only screw up your order and blame the customer instead of fixing it....
