The food seems to be kind of hit or miss, this is my third or fourth time coming, and is the first time that I’ve not been impressed with the food.
The atmosphere is really good, unless you were seated at or near the bar. I saw another reviewer, called the bar area, cluttered and I would have to agree. Also being seated near the bar and I could hear the weight staff grumblings about both current customers in the restaurant and customers that had just left the restaurant. In another review, I saw somebody mention that the hostesses seemed like they were inconvenienced to see you , unfortunately, that was my experience this time, as well as the other times that I’ve been. They also were on their phones, the entire time that I was there, I’m a millennial, so I’m on my phone all the time also but when it’s affecting your ability to do your job or greet customers as they’re coming or going. That’s when it gets to be a little excessive for me.
The service has gotten progressively worse since the first time I came to this restaurant about six months ago. But this was the first time that I had an outright bad experience with the servers. My waitress is taking my order. She was constantly looking at the window, and standing less than 2 feet away from me, and looking out the window feels like you don’t want to look at me. She also gave off the vibe that it was inconvenient to come to the table, or to check on me, or that I was holding up her table. (for reference this was at about 9 o’clock on a Sunday morning, there was only a handful of other tables being used, so it’s not like I was holding up turning the table) Like I mentioned earlier, my waitress, and the younger blonde waitress spent a good amount of time gossiping and grumbling behind the bar. I’ve worked in the service interest before as well as in retail, I understand sometimes you just need to vent. The problem is when I can hear every word you’re saying from roughly 10 feet away with an AirPod in trying to play media so that I can’t hear you. A lot more about Lacey and her attempts to practice manicures than I ever wanted to know. Not to mention the grumbling about customers, who didn’t understand up charges or were just generally annoying was not a very welcoming environment.
Additionally, my waitress, the older blonde, forgot to bring out some of my food when it arrived it was cold and tough while I was waiting I noticed an older woman get up from her table, walk all the way over to the bar, where the two waitresses were talking to let my waitress know she had forgot to bring the Pancakes out to the table. Later in the meal, I was waiting for butter to go with my pancakes, I was waiting a solid five minutes before the bartender or possibly a manager not me looking around and asked how everything was. I told him I needed some butter. Seconds later, the waitress came out of the kitchen again chatting with the younger blonde. When she saw the gentleman leaving my table, she asked is everything OK? And when I explained that I had just asked for some butter, her response was “weird they didn’t give you any butter” As though someone other than her was not doing their job. She came off, very passive aggressive during the interaction, almost as though I was trying to get her in trouble with her manager. I just wanted butter. I had already not been planning on mentioning the cold, tough bacon for concern of having to hear about it from the grumbling waitresses and this response just confirmed unless I wanted to try and talk to a manager on the way out I would just leave it be to spare another extremely awkward situation.
I don’t go into the stable of detail to try and scare any perspective customers away from this restaurant, I’ve definitely had good experiences here.
To any manager reading this, I do think the weight staff could use some additional training, maybe a space they could congregate to chat, vent, etc. while they are not actively at their tables that is...
Read moreThis one is difficult. Today was my second visit after an initial positive experience. To begin was a chaotic system for checking in at the host stand. The host just remembered who was in what order and how many. To be fair, he informed us that he normally does not work there but appeared to be in charge?? Once seated we placed our drink orders and waited 15 mins to receive these. We placed our food orders and waited. I had ordered a cinnamon roll to start as we wanted something sweet to share. This cinnamon roll took an additional 20 mins and was delivered cold from the refridgerator. Since our waiter never came by I asked the host if these were meant to be served cold and I was told, "How would I know?" He then went into a story about how there are two families and they help each other out....... Not sure how that was to help the situation. The waiter eventually came to the table 10 mins later to retrieve the cold cinnamon roll and took it back to the kitchen. Chef microwave was able to bring that roll up to a blistering temp and was delivered back to the table. At this point we had received our initial drinks and a cinnamon roll in the first 45 mins after being seated. At no point did anybody come by to refill water or coffee during our 1.5 hours in the restaurant. When we finally received our meals an hour had passed. I had ordered the "Incredible Omelet" with hash browns and a side of toast. The omelet was delivered at room temperature and no toast. The rest of my party received their meals in various temperature states. Given that it had taken this long to receive the meal and the lack of attention from anybody at the restaurant, I simply boxed it up and we paid our tab. Was this a one off due to multiple call outs? Possibly. However it cannot be understated that the owner or a real manager should have been there to help mitigate the confusion and possibly limit the number of tables seated if they were that short handed. A quick look around the restaurant assures me that this review will not be the only cautionary tale...
Read moreAs someone who has been in the hospitality and the restaurant industry for many many years, I must say this place definitely needs some work. I’m not sure if I came at a weird hour, don’t think so, because it was brunch time but I wasn’t greeted very promptly. Not much personality from my bartender. There were all types of Objects on the bar that should not have been visible, and it was rather cluttery. I don’t mean to call out the bartender, but he didn’t seem to know what I was ordering and it came to my attention that once I receive my check, I wasn’t even charged for the drink that I ordered. There were only a few tables in the restaurant And not much presents as far as management goes. The food was pretty good but not exceptional considering the environment. Decent portion size though. I don’t know how long the establishment has been in business but they could definitely use some hospitality work and try to be considerably more warm with the customers. If you’re crazy busy, then I understand not giving the utmost attention, but this place was far from max occupancy. My recommendation would be to make every guest feel exceptionally welcome and possibly give some type of incentive to return besides a free drink. I just didn’t feel like I was very important to the business and when your guest count is that low, that should never be the case. I will probably try to stop back and see if things have turned around or maybe I just caught them in a strange transition. I like buying local and I like referring people to local spots. You never know who’s in the building is the moral of the story. Thanks for the free drink, but I would imagine the owners wouldn’t be too excited about that. I wish you the best and I will definitely try to stop back in sometime and see if there’s been...
