Reply to owner: Thank you for a reply. Thank you for clarifying my case. As I explained I was sold something that was called beef stew by a woman who I would learn later, is the manager. The woman sold me beef stew not pork stew. If you can review your cameras you will see me come in around 4pm and point and ask what a container has in it. I was told "carne con papa". I was told it was too little to sell so they would give me fried pork chunks as well. I said this was fine. They did not mix them together. I paid for this. I took it home and fed it to an elderly person who CANNOT eat pork. I didn't know it was pork. I was told it was beef. The fried chunks I had myself. As I'm not allergic to pork.
I went back a few days later to ask about the beef stew again, was told they didn't have it except on one day. That's where the whole thing unraveld. I was told it was beef, it was pork. I explained this to the manager, who told me beef was pork. Beef pork. Wonderful. Glad you guys made my point for me. You should have audio on your cameras, listen to the lady (manager) referring both times to beef. And when I complained (days after, when I came back), calling beef pork. Because pork is a meat, so by that reasoning, pork is also a meat or beef. This is your employees reasoning. But carne could also be cat, dog, kangaroo and gorilla. In this country. If you say beef, it's understood to be cow meat. Pork comes from a pig and is universally known as pork precisely because it is not beef.
What is even better than a sign without pricing, is someone telling a consumer precisely what is being sold. And when a complaint is brought up, not shrugging it off because hey, pork is a type of beef, so technically it is beef stew just with pork. Ridiculous.
UPDATE: CONSUMER ALERT: complaint filed with the Health Department 09/11/2025 for misrepresenting pork as beef. Filed with the DPBR. Regarding disregard of public consumption for food allergy/religious exemption. FOOD ALLERGY ALERT: I have been patronizing this location for about 2 years, in that time have not had issues with food over small things like hard rice sometimes served after 3pm (they close at 6pm, and serve hot food up until that time). Hard pastries from the morning, but again, not a big deal.
The big deal is I was sold carne con papa (beef stew) when it was pork stew. (Fricase de puerco). Now while this may not seem a big deal, it is a really big deal. Not everyone eats pork. Some people are allergic to it, some people consider it religiously unclean. So while pork is animal, the designated "beef stew" is deceptive and misleading.
I came in today for carne con papa, I had bought it previous. Come to realize what I bought was pork called beef. It was served to an elderly person who CANNOT eat pork or pork products under any circumstances.
I complained politely to the manager (she was there when I was sold the food previously) and she said yeah but beef is pork. It's just pork beef. Beef is not pork. I explained this to her, she retorts that the beef is pork beef. Which was not disclosed to me. It was sold as carne. Beef.
The woman doesn't understand that if you tell someone beef the person will assume it's beef.
They lost my business and they will lose the business of about everyone else I can explain this to.
I write this review for two reasons. One to inform the public as to the bait and switch practice of selling pork as beef and two, that anyone who buys pork sold as beef and ends up sick over it should sue the ownership of this bakery to insure they go bankrupt. This is unacceptable, bad and dangerous business....
Read moreI'm going to add to my review, because I forgot that I left the one below two years ago.
I've been getting bakery items from them for over two years. Today I got their prepared lunch special for the first time. And a tamal to try out of curiosity.
I waited while a challenging customer ahead of me asked questions about food and was very let's say "involved" in how her food was served and how much... Not too much, not too little. The server went around her coworker, who was also serving food, with a separate container for portioning and the customer began to insist that she wanted it all together. The server chuckled and patiently responded that she will get there but needs to get around her coworker first. There was more back and forth with the customer describing what she would like.
Behind me there was another customer who said something about how all the food was touching and she asked for it to be served separately, because the person it was being served to wouldn't eat food if it was touching. The staff didn't even flinch. One lady who might have done the serving in this case let out a quick sigh and a deadpan look.
They are always patient with me when i am there, and they put up with these challenging customers today no problem. So I just wanna say as far as service goes, anyone can have a bad day sometimes but I have only ever seen them be patient and cordial if not straight up kind!
As for the food and prices... This completa is an outstanding value. The ropa vieja, congri, and yuca were great and the tamal is pretty good.
Some complaints about prices in the reviews, it's like people have been in a coma since the 90s. Look guys, there used to be tons of independent bakeries and cafeterias around, and now a few chains dominate. Between the chains and inflation, the quality of food available has gone down and prices have gone up.
It is increasingly difficult to find good Cuban food in Miami... A sentence I never thought I would write. I just got a ton of food priced at less than $11, in 2024, when places that used to be reliable charge twice as much for way worse food. My expectations, which are to find humble home cooking staples at decent prices for a lunch stop, are more than met here.
What I thought two years ago:
Ordenar d'aqui es un placer incomparable. Atienden a uno con paciencia...
Read moreWalked in at 5pm on Saturday and it says they close at 7pm. Wanted to have some coffee and was told no, that they were closing and to late. It’s to bad, won’t return.
10.21.23 updated review, tried to go back again but because I was at a party, where I tried the food, and it was good. As I walked in two ladies were helping one customers, so I waited patiently to ask what they had on the menu was available which it wasn’t. That’s OK it happened. But Wood really frustrated me with that two people walked in after me and they attended the two people one ordering coffee and the other one ordering a bakery item.I couldn’t understand if they knew I was looking for the food that was being served yet they did not ask me if I needed any help or would like anything else. So I walked out. It’s unfortunate that a bakery is so close to my house. I can’t even utilize it. Customer service is really bad. In addition, all the items they have on the wall have no prices which is frustrating when you’re trying to see how much money things are.
It’s too bad I can’t even post on the food because two times that I’ve gone in separate periods. I had to walk out. Unfortunately, your customer service there it doesn’t matter how good your food...
