I came because the re-opened after Chilitos closed, I was a regular there so I wanted to try the new spot. The renovations look amazing and everyone was super friendly. The weren’t ready to open 100% and were missing a lot of stuff like the agua frescas and horchata. They also do not have fountain drinks anymore so I went next door to subway for a drink. They have some traditional Mexican drinks like Jarritos but not the glass bottle ones. No mexican cokes either. They have a traditional Mexican street food menu without the street food taste. The Torta was very dry, they put flaming hot Cheetos seasoning in my street corn, after I asked for them to just put a dash of Tajin. The only saving grace for me was the churros. They had a good flavor, but they don’t do any toppings at all. Lastly they. Couldn’t do any bowls because they didn’t have the trays to put them in, but the bowl price went up a good bit because they charge more for “specialty” meats like spicy chicken
Overall I think I’ll miss Chilitos bowls...
Read moreSaw this place today as I leaving Publix and decided to stop in. It just happened to be the first day that they had re-opened after renovations. I think it used to be a Chilitos, but the current owners who purchased it have completely renovated it and turned it into a Mexican street food joint.
The service was excellent. The owner gave me a rundown of their menu and how it works, which was easy to understand. Their prices are fair and the options for meats are great.
I decided to try a carne asada burrito. The burrito took a little less than 10 minutes to prepare. The burrito is large and well-stuffed. It reminds me of the burritos from Chipotle. The ingredients all tasted very fresh and it came with two sauces: A red sauce which was like a spicy chipotle sauce, and then a verde sauce, which was not spicy at all. Both were good though. Overall, I was very happy with the quality of the food.
I'll definitely try this place again and I'm glad...
Read moreThe food is pretty good, good portion sizes but definitely lacks a bit of flavor. The set up is strange. Why they took the counter away to pick your food is a little off to me, I’m not thrilled about a wall so you can’t see your food being made. The girl who was working the counter wasn’t super friendly and although we walked in 10 min after they opened they didn’t have anything set up ready. I asked for water and she told me they didn’t have any, they typically have bottled water but they didn’t today is what she told me. They are located next to a Publix. Maybe buy a case of water for the few customers that are going to come in. We were there 40 min and no one came in while we were there. It has potential but seems like they could work out some very basic kinks to make it better. We loved chilitos so sad to be feeling this way when it’s so close...
