Since moving to Louisville 11 years ago I have wanted to try Claudia Sanders Dinner House. Today me and the family decided to go for lunch. I will admit...the historical aspect of the experience was amazing...but that is where the amazing experience stops. We were seated at a table that was very tacky to the touch. Our server only gave us two menus...there were three of us. Our server cut us off as we were giving our orders. They seemed like they were either in a hurry or they had no real interest in serving us. The attitude they gave made you almost afraid to ask for anything. I want to clarify that they were not nasty, but they seemed like they were being inconvenienced. We waited a long time for our food and our appetizer came out with our meals. Our bottomless bread wasn't so bottomless much to the disappointment of my son. He really enjoyed the rolls. The portions were large. The sandwiches were huge. I did not much care for my sides, but that is okay because I am rather picky when it comes to sides. I was however disappointed in the chicken. I ordered chicken wings and they tasted catfish and I hate catfish. The seasoning on the chicken was practically non-existent. Hard to believe that since KFC is know for the 11 herbs and spices. The chicken wing was a good size and the meat was very tender. It is just a shame that it did not taste good. My husband did not get part of his order. When my husband asked that it be removed from our check he was told that it was ready to be served. We had already eaten our meal by this time. If that item was ready to be served, then why was it not brought to our table? My husband would have taken it to go if the food and service were good, but by this time he was over the whole experience. We wanted to try the bread pudding, but we did not even get a chance to tell the server that before she hurried us out the door. Not sure if this was an off day or what, but first impressions are lasting impressions. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
