Was a large call in order for coworkers. Food was already sitting on a table when we got there. Waited over 15 mins after waitress decided to take others orders and bring food out and talk to coworkers while we stood there, she even pointed to the bags and asked if we were picking that up before she took care of other people. Once she decided to ring us up, the card reader would not work. Told us we would have to have cash since they have been having issues all day. ( maybe should have said something when the order was placed )At this point it's been our whole lunch break and now we need to go find an ATM to get cash. Finally get back and then wait ANOTHER 5-10 minutes, no sorry , no discount, deserts, nothing. So late back to work, no time to eat our cold food AND didn't even get the order correct. We always try to support local businesses and understand things happen and sometimes are out of their control and people have bad days, but a simple, " I'm sorry" would've gone a long way in this situation instead of listening to the employees bicker, being ignored and have them act like we were inconveniences to their day. Unfortunately our large lunch orders will now go to another business. And just to be clear this was the third strike for them, so definitely gave them a chance. Don't like to give negative reviews...

The people here are so kind and personable, and the food is some of the best I've had in KY. The food feels homemade in the best way, and it's so affordable!! There are usually specials going on, changing with each day of the week.
My partner and I always get an enormous amount of fresh made fries with our hamburgers. We get a drink each, all of which totals to $33 or so. Our food has been cooked perfectly each time. We leave feeling full and needing naps when we get home, lol.
Also, I really really love how they promote local businesses on their TVs and have cards for local businesses lined up at the register.
I would love if eventually the diner gets comfier chairs or booths, and if they provide napkin stands at the tables since sometimes the servers are (understandably) busy and can't get to wipe down each table in time before you seat yourself.
I hope Shelby's stays around for a loooooong time, this might be my partner's and my favorite restaurant...
Read moreI've been here 3 times now. I've been hoping to find something good enough to order twice, but so far I've just not been very impressed. The waitresses are usually over run with tables. My first visit I ordered the burger, which was good, but the drink machines was down and they were serving from cans of coke. Instead of just giving me my own can, they were filling up glasses with them and if it didn't take the entire can, they left it to sit and get flat before someone else ordered the same drink, which happened to be me. My second trip I decided to give another shot. I got the soup beans and cornbread. My beans were hard and it took 35 minutes to get it. I love local businesses so I decided 1 more try and got the chili and grilled cheese. I didn't get napkins, straws, cutlery. I asked for it and did get the straw. Had to wipe my chili hands off on my jacket. I'm done...
