Waffle House — Restaurant in Kentucky

Trying hard to figure out how to rate this Waffle House fairly. My wife and I came in for breakfast, sat at a table and the waitress "Sam" was very vocal in front of my wife to the other staff that she was not happy we were sitting in her section. She stated that she was sick of the other waitresses not taking any tables. She was extremely rude and made it very clear she had no interest in waiting on us. However, my wife (she and I are both former Waffle House employees and love Waffle House) maintained her composure and told Sam we'd find another table if she didn't want to wait on us. We moved to another table and our waitress "Heather" said she'd be delighted to wait on us. She was very kind, professional and attentive. Our food was excellent and she made up for the rudeness of Sam. It was obvious that Sam was like a poison in the restaurant to the overall morale, even glaring at my wife and mumbling under her breath as she marched outside to smoke. Could have easily been a 5 star rating had it not been for one bad apple. Just to make sure Heather knows how much we appreciate he professionalism, I'm gonna leave her a $15 tip for...

Kenny was our Cook & Destiny our Server today. As travelers we arrived in the middle of the night. It was as though a night club closed and they all left hungry. Every table & the bar filled up all at once. I’ve never seen a Cook do what Kenny did tonight. He prepared every plate beautifully, correctly & quick. He remained on top of his game with an understanding kindness towards our server. Destiny, our server, was sweet and we didn’t want for a single thing. We sat at a table between chili side of the restaurant & the front door. We could see the expressions of disappointment as people came in to a packed restaurant. They knew they’d have to wait until someone finished eating. Once they walked in, their expressions lined up with the calm tone set by Kenny’s mannerisms. We were very impressed. We ordered chili, cheeseburger & a big breakfast plate. We also had coffee & water. Our drinks stayed full & our food served hot. I hope upper management will look at the security footage between 12am-1am. It would be an excellent training video for other restaurants. One of our first visits to this location, they had a fire in the kitchen..that’s fine and we get it, but they sprayed the fire extinguisher all over the kitchen. It went all over the kitchen, any and all food (including ours) and it made the dining area smell. They told us oh it’s fine, we will be back up and running in no time. We ended up leaving because they had no intention of getting rid of the contaminated food. They were going to reuse it!

Today, we ordered to-go. Apparently you can’t call in orders anymore. You have to place your order online. There’s no way online to make modifications to your order. We picked up the order and it was wrong, very wrong. My husband ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and got some sort of sandwich on bread. No toppings at all. They did not give me and my son the sausage that came with our orders either. Here’s the kicker—the server checked our order before handing it to me! I don’t think I got my double order of hashbrowns either.
