If I could give zero star, I would definitely rate it as zero star with no doubt. Their food is not authentic and not really good. If you’re from a place where you can find dim sum, I would strongly recommend you ignore this restaurant.
To prove that we were really there, I would upload three pics with this rating post. So, what happened to us then? That was our first visit. We ordered a lot as we really wanted to eat DimSum. The waiter forgot one last dish after we finished what we had at our table. It probably had been 40 mins from the first entree was delivered. While we were eating, we heard she said they’re going to close for the day. So, we accelerated and tried avoiding of delaying her schedule. I directly went to the counter to pay( also tried to accelerate the process and avoid of wasting her time) and told her we found one entree was not delivered. So, I told the waiter(also she was also the cashier) you don’t need to give it to us since we were so full, and ask her remove the item from the check. She argued that “ oh this one is ready. I will bring it to you.” At the moment, when she said so, my husband was packing the leftover. I argued with her that we had been waiting for the last one entree for more than 15mins. You didn’t come and check. Even it’s me to tell you we need to have boxes for packing the leftover and the cheque. You also didn’t say there is one more.
While we were having lunch there, they were selling raw pork meats just next to the counter.
[Summary] This is a family owned business. The problem won’t easily be solved. The food is not authentic and not good and not fresh based on my experience in trying multiple Dim Sum restaurants cross Mia-west, California, Toronto, as well as Hong Kong. The service is also very rude according to the...
Read moreWe were visiting my mother-in-law near Lansing. We came to Grand Rapids this morning to run an errand and to pick up a couple of things at a Vietnamese market.
When we were walking into the market, we noticed the BBQ meat hung at the window of Wei Wei Palace next to the market. We thought my MIL would appreciate a few pick-me-ups to snack on. After finishing our shopping at the market next door, we went to the restaurant to pick up a couple of things my MIL would seldom have living on a farm outside of Lansing.
We got half a roast duck and 1.5 lbs of roast pork to go. While hostess / waitress / BBQ meat chopper was preparing our order, an apparent long time customer walked in and started speaking with her in Cantonese. When she handed us order, I said thanked her in Cantonese. I think she was pleasantly surprised. I had placed my order in English as I wasn’t sure what language she might speak (Mandarin, Cantonese or Vietnamese) and I didn’t want to be presumptuous even though the BBQ meats sold are Cantonese cuisine.
I admit that I held a it-is-what-it-is attitude approaching the quality of the BBQ meats we bought given where we are from. However, we were pleasantly and delightfully surprised how good they are. Although the skin of the roast pork could be a bit more lighter and crispier, it still packs a good crunch. It probably lost a bit of the crisp from the condensation in the takeout box during the hour ride home. The roast duck was tender and very flavourful as well.
We are very happy that my MIL...
Read moreI’ve been here several times, and while the food is generally decent, the service is always bad—and this time it was worse than usual. Today, I wasn’t very hungry but wanted a few appetizers, so I ordered four items totaling more than $15. I told them I was good for now and didn’t want to order anything else—at least until the food came out. I was told there’s a $15 minimum for dine-in service, which I understood and decided to take my order to go instead. However, the server said it was too late to switch because my water had already been poured into a red solo cup. I accepted that and made it clear I wouldn’t be ordering anything further. We also asked for chili oil but never received it—maybe I need to spend $30 for extras like that?
The server kept trying to get me to buy more, even though I knew my order was over $15. When the bill came, it was $21. I asked about the $15 minimum charge she mentioned earlier, and she said it was okay but had previously suggested my order was under $15. Spending more money wasn’t the issue—I just wish she had been honest about the situation.
I had planned to order more food to take home for dinner but decided against it after...
