Angelini's Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Keokuk

We came from Chicago to Keokuk to visit friends and family. I looked on Google for restaurants and found Angelini’s. It had 4.5 stars and reviews sounded great. So I made a reservation hoping for the best. Well we were not disappointed. The server was so sweet and very helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere and decor made me feel as though I was in an Italian restaurant in the city. The menu had many wonderful options to choose from. 2 people in our party chose the Eggplant Parmigiana and were very pleased. They said it was very tasty and each slice was almost an inch thick. 1 person ordered the Shrimp Scampi and said it was good. I ended up ordering The Spicy Drunken Shrimp. Wow, it was exactly what it says and I was very pleased with the flavor! After dinner we ordered the Creme’ Brûlée and Tiramisu. Again very please, in fact the Tiramisu was one of the best we’ve had. SO, yes we recommend and yes we would definitely go back when we visit again. Our friends we went with felt proud to have a great Italian place to eat in...

This used to be a great place, but it's gone downhill, although I don't necessarily believe the owner can do anything about it. Food costs are sky-high and no one in our area wants a job, no matter what the pay.

The restaurant was about 3/4 full, so it was busy but not crazy. I had bourbon chicken, with asparagus and twice-baked potato. The chicken was pretty good, but the asparagus was tough and tasteless. The potato was cold and tasteless.

Our friendly and professional waiter was wonderful, until she disappeared sometime during the middle of our meal. We finished eating, then waited over 40 minutes to get our checks. Someone finally went and found her. After we paid, it was over 20 minutes until we got our cards and receipts back.

We waited over an hour altogether, which was far too long. I don't know if anyone was actually at "fault" or not, but I found the wait completely unacceptable and probably won't be going back...

Sooo I have only been here twice, once for a birthday supper and once for a carry out pizza, I actually never knew it existed untill something was mentioned about coffie granted i have been by here tons of times. I just want to express that I am a picky person when it comes to food, as in if I take the time outa the day to order or get food somewere, I like for it to taste decent, not burnt, over cooked or worse than I'd serve at my house for supper. These guys can totally rock out to verry extravagant on what they have served to my family and I. Idn what they do to the cook and waitress's to get them to do sutch a good job, but its super good and I haven't had to track them down for drinks they're always on it.
