Dr. Getwell's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Keokuk

The theme is fun, but man, this is about the worst food we've ever been served.

My wife ordered a burger, medium, which came out beyond well done. The outside of the patty was blackened, and the inside was way overcooked, even for a well-done burger. There's really no way a kitchen should serve a medium-order burger this way.

I ordered fried cod. One of the pieces was somehow crispy all the way through, as if it was entirely batter, but with no fish. Upon closer inspection, I could see the inside was fish, but had been so overfried that it became completely crispy and crunchy, with no tenderness whatsoever.

The waitress kindly brought out a new order of fish, but brought catfish instead of the cod I'd ordered, which I happen to really dislike. I just accepted it, because bless her heart, the waitress was trying her best in what seemed like a very stressful evening. She explained that one waitress had been sent home because she was vomiting (I really wish I hadn't been told this), and another waitress had also called in sick.

Also, the waitress had gone to talk to the owner as to what to do about my fish. A good owner comes over, apologizes, and offers a solution. However, this owner just sent the waitress back to deal with it. Just a sign of poor ownership.

It was really a 1-star experience, but I feel bad rating that low. I don't know if we arrived on a terrible night, or if this is the norm, but I'll be sure to steer clear of this place...

It good I would like to see lower price sides . and appetizers are too high price especially the amount you get to get better butter packets or bigger Butters real butter for the good food needs real butter and that way you won't be opening These Little Things by the time you get them all open your Foods cold I think the staff is real nice and friendly Adan very fast it's just I wish I had more than a lot of hamburgers on that menu spaghetti with meat sauce and salad and garlic bread that wouldn't be much at all I'm a cook so I know what would go good and a restaurant and would be costly to the restaurant but I think it's I think it's one of the best places in Keokuk to eat I like their potato salad but I'm not paying almost $3 for a little bowl is not even heaping but you do got a lot of other things to choose from if you're not a Beefeater too much there's not that much things I have tried I didn't really care for it was the meatloaf it tastes like it was fried if you like hamburgers and La beef items they got every hamburger you think of I think they make one up with anything on it seems like I would like to see more soup there without all the pepper my tomato basil creamy cheddar potato without all the pepper so much pepper in it you know a lot of people can eat that I hate paying high prices for a desert when it cost about much as my meal or half what my meal did anyway...

I have yet to be able to understand how this place could have good reviews, we are staying the week in Keokuk and throughout our hotel there are advertisment after advertisement about this restaurant and that they deliver to the hotel, when we called to try and place an order, I was informed by the hostess that she had worked there for over a year and has never heard of the place delivering to anybody. We accepted that and decided we'd try some place else that would deliver. Since we decided that we needed to get a few items from the store, we thought that we'd give the place another chance, since we had the dogs with us, we couldn't go to a sit down, we needed to get anything we ordered to go. So I called up Dr. Getwell's again to place a to go order like all their advertisements claim to have, once again, I was told we were out of luck because as the hostess put it so rudely, they were to busy to deal with to go orders that unless we came in and sat down to eat there was nothing they could do. I get being busy and I get having a few outdated ads in a hotel, but come on, when all your ads posted state that you are rated the best in multiple food categories and that you offer dine-in, carryout, and delivery, then some accomodations need to be made. Either get some ads removed, corrected or don't be so boastful about your service when neither is able to be performed...
