FERNANDO'S PLACE, LLC — Restaurant in Kewanee

I now live in Texas, but while I was back home, I made it a point to patronize Fernandos! Partly because they decided to follow the Illinois mitigation measures and partly because for the excellent food and wonderful service!

I visited the restaurant during the week after Easter and was promptly welcomed in and seated. My mom, uncle and aunt joined me. I decided to have the Chimichanga Especial Del Rancho and it was excellent. The chimichanga had the right amount of crispness, the rice was perfect and flavorful and the beans and salad were great, as well!

My uncle had the Chile Verde and he was so pleased that he texted me a picture the next week to let me know he found a new favorite in Kewanee and was dining in again with my aunt.

The food was mediocre. Son had the fajitas it was pretty much onions barely any steak was for sure not worth the cost. I had the chimichanga, it was the smallest and worst one I have ever had. Wife had the tacos she said they where good. We also ordered the queso dip I didn’t realize it was just water and some queso. Not worth the cost either. The place inside is actually very nice and seemed very clean. The man that was our waiter was I believe the owner. He was a nice man the elderly older lady that wasn’t our waitress was the only one coming by to check on and she was for sure doing a lot. She was very nice. Their prices are not worth the amount of watered down food you get from them. You can go to one of the other Mexican restaurants in town and get way more...

WE LOVE FERNANDO'S! Him and his wife are AWESOME! They really do make you feel like family when you come. We have yet to have something we don't like! I am a picky eater and don't like spicy but Fernando is GREAT at suggesting things to try. You can tell that EVERYTHING is fresh and homemade. You can definitely see a difference from the bigger Mexican restaurants compared to the smaller ones. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY. Everyone needs to try their Mexican pizza at least once! It is worth EVERY penny! The guacamole is YUMMY! The margaritas are VERY good! We ALWAYS look forward to going! Give them a try, they won't disappoint! You guys love what you do and it shows!
