Growing up in the area for my entire life, I've only known one bakery, and that's Roeck's. I remember weekly stops at the bakery to get a fresh loaf of white bread with my parents, and sometimes I'd get a long john when I was next door getting my haircut. The bread is fantastic, the hard rolls are fantastic, the donuts are fantastic. I'd recommend asking for a slice of the "better than sex" cake.
There was a time when one of the employees seemed less than impressed to be working, or doing her job, however a simple text the owner Jared was all it took, and the issue was corrected. Jared and his family run a hell of a business that's been rooted in this community for a long time, and is a staple to the history of the City of Kiel.
I understand Jared and his crew at Roeck's Bakery aren't the only bakery around, and that some people prefer the way others conduct their business and make their baked good. But Roeck's Bakery and their family will always come first in my life, because Jared, Sandy, and family have committed their lives to helping others, both professionally and personally.
I had to deduct one star though because I wish the filled donuts were clearly marked. Bought a filled donut without me knowing it was filled, and I just can't do that.... Donuts should be clean on the inside, frosting on...
Read moreThe customer service was the worst I've ever seen. Decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were having a bad day (we all do). But I came to the review page and saw the most recent reviews, and responses, and found the responses appalling. You accused one lady of feeding her kids junk, getting bad energy because maybe she came in the bakery with some (emphasis on the maybe) lying about a driver speeding, telling her we're glad you won't be back and than further insulted her with a snarky comment about "having the day she deserves". Who treats potential customers like this? Had this bakery for generations huh? I'd say if the first generation treated it's customers like the third it wouldn't have lasted as long. Honestly with the attitude I've seen displayed in your bakery and all over your review page, I'd say I'd rather get Kwik Trip cookies than give my hard earned money to these bakery bullies. A huge part of business is word of mouth, I'll be sure to let everyone I speak with know how unappreciative and unpleasant you are to deal with. I'd give this negative stars if I could, you don't even make cookies good enough to have this kind of bad attitude honestly. Your store as a whole should take a customer service course, for real....
Read moreMy kids aren’t fans of their cookies — and let’s be honest, what kid doesn’t like cookies? The donut frosting isn’t for me either, and the selection overall feels pretty limited. I get that they’re popular — they’ve been around a long time, and that’s great for those who enjoy them. Personally, I think Sunrise Bakery and Hartman’s are great options, and Sunday Dough is truly phenomenal.
Side note: Whoever was driving their small white vehicle on July 2nd, 2025, at 12 p.m., shame on you for speeding down a residential side street — right after summer school let out, with kids walking and biking nearby. It’s right down the road from all the schools. I called to speak to the owner or a manager, but the younger girl who answered was no help and showed no concern — which only added to the frustration.
Overall, the product isn’t worth it, customer service lacks, and the disregard for safety sealed the deal. I won’t...
