Food was pretty good but too expensive for the type of place and atmosphere. It's more of a mom and pop joint with TVs on the wall playing the latest reality show drama. My husband and I had a date night tonight and decided to give it a try. I wish we would have picked a different restaurant. I was least impressed with the staff. They were loud, obnoxious and cared only about going home. We arrived at the restuarant a little after 8pm(Oct 5th) and at first, there were still several tables full. Before we had gotten our food however, most of the tables had finished and left. That's when the service really went downhill. Our waitress, Maddison, decided she wanted our table to be here last table for the evening so she could go home ( they do not close until 9:30) She was a very obnoxious lady who loudly asked one person ( in a demanding voice) if she had a problem with that being her last table. When that lady said no, she then yelled across the room and asked a guy named Caleb if he cared. Very unprofessional and let us know right away they wanted us to hurry and leave. Our food arrived a few minutes later, it was pretty good but nothing I would have to have again. Maddison, a girl named Kayla, I believe, and an older lady began to clean the dining room. They were sweeping and stacking chairs on the table ( it was 8:40) About halfway through the meal, after listening to the employees complain about how much they just wanted to walk out and go home because they hated their job, one of them decided she was just going to go ahead and mop the floors. Soon, the whole dining room smelled like cleaner and even my food tasted like it. I quit eating and Maddison came to ask if I wanted a box or dessert and drinks TO GO. She obviously had somewhere else to be that was more important than taking care of her customers. I was quite aggravated at this point so I quietly sat there waiting on my box while listening to her and the other employee, Kayla, talking about how they were just in it for the money and how nobody checks the cameras anyway. I'm not entirely sure what that even means but it sounds pretty sketchy. So, managers or owners of The Mad Greek, I would advise you to check your cameras for the last hour you were supposed to be open and see what's going on in your restaurant. You lost what could have been a repeat customer and a good review because of it. This might be a fine place to eat at lunch time or early dinner but watch out if it's in the evening and within an hour of closing because they just want to push you...
Read moreSo out of all the places I've been to for my reviews, this is one of those few places I've never been to for my Reviews. Since my boyfriend just moved into the air to live with me, we decided to try this place out for the first time together.
The place has a nice homely kind of atmosphere. Very clean, and very presentable. You can sit at a table, or you can sit at a booth. The workers were extremely polite and professional toward me and my boyfriend to say the very least.
From the moment we walked in, we were instantly seated at a booth by our request. Not much longer after we were seated, the Waitress came by to take our drink orders. He got a Dr. Pepper and I got a Diet Coke. Let me start by saying this Waitress was VERY attentive to our table. About 5-10 minutes later, she came back to ask if we knew what we wanted to order. I wanted to get a medium Pizza but asked if we could get one half cheese and the other half pepperoni. She said we can definitely do that.
About 10-20 minutes passed and here comes our Pizza. Nice and fresh! So much you could see the steam rising from it! The taste of this pizza was out of this world. Enough to make my mouth start salivating. The perfect combination of Crust/Dough/Sauce/Cheese. When you would remove a slice, it would leave a long and delicious trail of stringy cheese behind as you removed it from the whole pizza.
Part way through our dinning experience, the Waitress came back and asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks which we said yes please. The quality/flavor of the drinks were top notch, let me just say that. There's something about having soda at a restaurant that makes it taste better than when you drink the same drink at home.
When the waitress came back, she asked if we needed anything else. I told her "Check Please" She politely said, "right away sir" before going to get the check.
So here's the interesting part, A medium half and half pizza, and two drinks. How much do you think that cost? Under $20! Such amazing quality Pizza for such a low price. We got all of the above for less than what you would pay to have Pizza Hut deliver you a Pizza.
All in all, this was the first time me or my boyfriend had ever dined her. I intentionally held off on eating here when I knew he was moving to Kingsport Tennessee. And let me just say it was worth the wait. The food here is incredible! I'll definitely be coming back to eat here...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I ate here last night for dinner. We had the hummus with pita as an appetizer. It was delicious, except the consistency of the hummus was a bit grainy. We both had the Gyros for dinner. They were delicious, and I highly recommend it. We also had a raspberry white chocolate cake. The serving size was huge and you could feed two to three people with the serving size they give you. The service that we had was terrible. I understand that service can be bit slow during the holidays, but it was terrible. There was maybe 4 tables max that was there last night. Yet it took about 10 minutes to get at least waters and almost 15 minutes to get a draft beer. Our server never checked up on us. Only to drop our first round of drinks off, or appetizer, meal, and dessert. I hate to hunt down a server just to get our bill paid for. On top of it, throughout our whole visit, I watched another server tend to her multiple tables with grace. She made sure their drinks were good, the food was good, and made sure their visit was pleasant. As for the atmosphere it was quite, with light music playing in the background. The looks of it was on par with it being a holiday seasons. As for the cleanliness, it is slacking a tad bit. There was several discarded plates underneath our table. The servers didn't have their hair back while serving.
Update13-Jan-2024*
Went here for the second time. Had Amarrissa as our server. She is wonderful! A way better server than our last one. She was very attentive and informative about the menu and gave recommendations. I highly recommend her as a server. We had ordered the Zesty Feta Dip as an appetizer. It does have a small kick to it and was delicious. It has an interesting texture with the feta cheese chunks. Im curious on how it would taste if it was pureed. We also ordered a Gyro and a Falafel. They were amazing as well, and I highly...
