Beware unsafe food! Pictures included. Today is Sunday October 4th 2020 My wife and I just went there to eat around 2:15p.m. 45 minutes before they close. Before I begin I will start with the 2 positives that resulted in their 1 star rating. 1. the customer seating area appeared to be clean and 2. our server Hannah was polite. That being said, I ordered the New England clam chowder. My wife and I both each ordered the raw oysters and shrimp Appetizers. For the dinner she ordered the dockmans special and I ordered the large flounder platter. Now on to the Problems with food quality and dangerous food practices. First the New England clam chowder was milk in a bowl with only a few super small diced potatoes and finely 1 minced clam, and it was not seasoned. Here is the dangerous part The raw oysters and cooked shrimp the raw oysters were served with no shell in a bowl filled with ice water and cooked shrimp on top. The danger is they cross contaminated the food. You never put cooked food in with raw food. The oysters were bad and we didn't discover that until after we ate the contaminated cooked shrimp that was put on top of rotten oysters. And now we are both sick. Further when we informed the manager of the bad oysters she took them in the back dumped out the ice water and put the same bad oysters in a small warm bowl with the cooked shrimp and tried reserving them to us. The kingsport and sullivan county health dept needs to pay them a visit before someone dies from food poisoning. As for my wife's dinner they took a crab shell and stuffed it with only bread crumbs with no crab in it whatsoever deep fried it in the shell and called it stuffed crab when there was no visible crab meat or anything else in it except bread crumbs. My dinner the flounder platter 1 of the 3 pieces of fish had the consistency of mush and was rancid. We are both currently ill. I strongly advise the public not to eat there as their food safety, handling, and preparation are dangerous. I do not like to give bad reviews but due to food safety concerns I felt it imperative to inform the public. I will also be contacting the city and county food inspectors. First thing...
Read moreWe use to go here alot but then covid came so after that was over we went at least once every month for awhile. We hadn't been in awhile so we went there May3rd 2025. Waitress was great. It was chilly inside. We ordered our food. When we got food my Alaskan white fish and baby shrimp and hush puppies was all thrown on top of my fries. My fries was very old and dried out and tasteless and cold. My whitefish was over fried, hard and medium warm. My baby shrimp was cold and greasy. Hush puppies greasy. I took a few bites and it made me nauseated. I then knew it was very bad food on my fiancé's plate when I seen he was picking at his food. This was his favorite place to eat. He was not happy. He had the Fishermans plate. He pulled out blackened burnt fries. He had burnt pieces of clam and his deviled crab was pure salty. He tried eating it because he knew after we showed waitress when she came to ask if we needed take out boxes that his food was horrible and mine too. She looked at my plate and said you barely ate anything. I told her fries was old and no taste and dried out. She then agreed she knew our fries was bad but didn't know the fish would be that bad like that. We showed her the burnt fish. She said tell them up front and they will give you a discount. We did tell girl up front and she said I'm sorry and that's 45 dollars and some change. We paid but I told her we wouldn't ever be back. We was still hungry but too nauseated to eat when...
Read moreMy lunch bud and I were in the mood for fish and decided to try Fisherman's Dock. I'm glad we did. The food was quite good, which belies the 4 star rating that I will get to. I had the Alaskan whitefish lunch special with onion rings. My lunch bud had the perch. Our usual lively lunch conversation was almost nonexistent when I noticed we were both wolfing down our food. He was highly complimentary of the perch, cooked to a tender desirability, just as I enjoyed the large whitefish portions, breaded and fried to a delicious finish. Crispy breading with perfect timing in the oil results in crispness while leaving the fish tender without being undercooked. He had fries which he described as average. My onion rings had a wonderful flavor, and were cooked to the right level of doneness. The marble sized hush puppies left something to be desired, not freshly made, and for the most part almost bland. My cole slaw was leaning toward above average but a bit too wet to make above average. Flavor wise was merely okay to not bad. The sweet tea was nice, free refills, service was quick and friendly. I will definitely return for dinner just to see if there is a very big difference overall. The lunch portions are large as lunches go...we both left quite full. I recommend them for lunch, and will relook this review once I have experienced the dinner menu. A cold beer would have been great with the excellent...
