For Slice of Life to be thee best pizza in the city, management needs to be more particular who they have host their customers. Me, my sister and my 2 y/o niece decided we wanted pizza and wings. Upon arrival we were told it would be a 10 minute wait, muscle memory, we look around to see why, in which my sister saw a couple of empty tables that could accommodate our tiny party but ok. No problem. They know better than us. The ‘hostess’ ask for our name and she writes it down. There wasn’t any seats for us to sit and wait so we told her we’d wait in the car. About 5 minutes in, I notice a family of 3 adults walking in. I told my sister to go in just in case, so they won’t seat anyone before us. She went in and what do you know, the family was immediately seated. I asked for a manger and instead, (I guess) their ‘lead hostess’ addressed our concerns stating it was a ‘tenative 10 minutes’. We were offered a table top which wouldn’t be safe for my niece. I asked if there was anywhere for us to sit and wait (again) for a table so we wouldn’t be overlooked and the low level ‘hostess’ offered the bar knowing we had a child with us. My sister asked if we could sit at an empty table until then. And they said sure. While waiting, we saw two tables clear out. The tables were broke down then cleaned. We waited and waited and waited. No one came to let us know their were tables ready. We waited some more. Me and sis decided we’d just seat ourselves at one of the ready tables before they seat anyone else (again). We waited and waited while staff walked back and forth not even acknowledging us. Finally, here comes MATTHEW P. our waiter. He turned a very frustrating situation into a great evening. He exudes kindness and even exchanged conversation, laughs and giggles with my niece. Thank you Matthew P. Great customer service sir! I don’t want to assume that this behavior had anything to do with us being the only African...
Read moreMy husband and I come here frequently because we love the pizza and ambiance, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2. However, tonight was a disappointing experience with the quality of service. We had a party of 6 and the hostesses told us it would be a 30 minute wait to sit inside. They told us the outdoor fire pits weren't working so we decided to wait for a table inside. There wasn't anywhere to stand and we felt in the way. After awhile we saw them seating people who came in after us, and also noticed there were several open tables that could've been pushed together.
I went up and asked the hostess if they had a time estimate, and she looked at me very annoyed and said "we are waiting for people to leave." I asked her again if she had a time estimate and she then just said "no." Not friendly. Not helpful whatsoever. I asked if we could push tables together because our friends were standing holding a baby and we had been waiting awhile. The hostesses said they could not push tables together and it was their manager who made that rule.
We decided to just sit outside since it didn't even look like there were tables big enough to accommodate our party size. They were able to get the fire pits working after all. Just disappointed in the unfriendliness of the hostesses and the supposed table rule. I've never heard of a restaurant not pushing tables together...how else do you accommodate parties bigger than 4 people? Just...
