The best place to eat in Wilmington! I recently visited Wilmington for a soccer tournament with my teenage son. A parent on our team recommended K38 for our team dinner on Saturday night. I called Friday evening on my way to Wilmington and spoke with the manager, Scotty. I explained we had a large party of at least 30 people and were hoping to eat at K38 since it was within walking distance of our hotel. Scotty asked me to stop in when I arrived from Raleigh, and he could show me what he had available and I’m so glad I did. He worked out seating for our whole party while keeping the main dining room open for smaller parties. He was so nice and professional! He even gave me a history of the restaurant as we talked. When I left, he sent me away with the best complimentary chips and salsa I have ever eaten, and I lived in Texas for 7 years folks!
Saturday evening our party of 16 adults and 18 children (including 2 siblings under age 7) arrived at 6:30 pm. Scotty rushed out to greet us and personally made sure all our needs were attended to. He sat our 16 teenage boys in a small room to themselves and placed the adults on the outdoor patio. The service was exemplary, and Scotty couldn’t have been a more gracious host. I am not even sure how long we enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere out there on the patio but we never once felt rushed. Scotty checked on us and our boys regularly and really made us all feel relaxed and welcome. I couldn’t ask for a better dining experience for a large crowd on such short notice! We totally felt as though our reservations had been made weeks in advance and that the entire restaurant staff was poised to welcome us, not that our reservation was made the night before and that the staff had to scramble to accommodate us! Of course, after our meal, Scotty sent us back to the hotel with more chips and salsa to snack on during our evening card games. Great food, impeccable host, and the perfect atmosphere! You cannot go wrong visiting this gem of...
Read moreDisappointed - I have been going K-38 / Tower 7 for many many years and up until now has always been a great experience. However my wife and I went to K-38 yesterday for lunch and was very disappointed in our visit. I am unsure what happened, if they went under new ownership or management but the building and its contents where disgusting. The place was filthy. This started the moment we walked in. The glass doors and windows has smudges and smears as if it had been months since they where cleaned. We entered and noticed no personnel where wearing masks. So here we are in the middle of a pandemic and we had the worst hospitalization rate this past weekend and no staff are wearing any masks to protect customers. I was ready to leave but decided I would stay. We were then lead to a wobbly table and provided the most dirty menu I have ever seen - did not even want to touch it. Looked around and noticed green mold around the ceiling air vents dirt and grime on the wood rails. Overall this is probably one of the most dirty restaurants I have been to in many years. It is as if they no longer care about the maintenance and care of the restaurant. We ended up getting two tacos and drinks. They were great, the tacos were cooked perfect and the margarita was good. Still could not get over the overall uncleanliness, it made for a very uncomfortable experience. We will not be coming back. It was a good run but I believe this local restaurant chain has had its best days behind itself. It was a good run but all good things must come to an end and I think that is the case for K-38.
If I wanted great food and did not care about paying a premium for a good overall experience I would go to the Burrito Shack. The tacos are just as good at half the cost and it is a clean...
Read moreI recently came here on a Sunday night along with some family members, and the service was not great. It took them an hour to get our food to us after we put in orders, and I tried to just go ahead and cancel my meal after a good 50 minutes because it was close to 8 o'clock at that point and with my digestive issues it's not really good for me to eat after 8. Normally when I sit down in a restaurunt the food gets to me within 20-30 minutes, so I thought I would be fine ordering at 7. I would not have bothered if I knew the restaurunt could not handle the volume of customers they willingly took on. I was initially told no problem, they could cancel my order, but they ended up bringing it to me and charging me anyways. And due to the time cutoff and health concerns, I did not even eat it there. When we asked for our checks about 8:15, it took them til 8:45 so we could not even leave on time. And then my cousin paid cash and they did not even bring her change. She was going to tip and everything, but we did not appreciate them just taking all of her cash and assuming it was a tip and not bringing any change back. I tried to reach out to management a week ago about this bad experience, but they never responded. I guess they don't care? That is the only reason I am writing a bad review. I attempted to voice my concerns with management in hope of establishing some sort of communication and giving this place another chance. But they can't even be bothered to deal with it I guess. Don't go to this place on a busy night. They cannot...
