Spanky's Grille — Restaurant in Kitty Hawk

For over 15 years, Spanky's has been me and all my friends' absolute favorite food stop in our many trips per year to the OBX. I promise you that you'll never find a better burger anywhere. I can't even describe how incredibly delicious the burgers are here. It's unreal. If you're brave enough, try the Viking Challenge and take down a 2 pounder and represent your state in their yearly competition.

But it's not just the burgers. Every special they have is amazing as well, from the Super Dawg to the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. Check their Facebook for weekly specials.

The only thing better than the food here is the service. Ben, his family and his employees are the nicest people you'll ever meet. They truly make you feel like a friend while you're there and are just incredible people. No matter how crowded it is at lunchtime rush, you're getting your food quickly and with a smile.

It's your in the OBX, you HAVE to put Spanky's on your itinerary. You HAVE to try these burgers. I promise you...

BACON PEPERJACK BURGER, FRIES AND GRAVY... $9.46 TOTAL.

Fries were frozen but were cooked and seasoned to perfection. They appear to use a dusted/crushed salt as opposed to more course traditional fine table salt. The dusted approach has the entire fry surface covered but never at the expense of being over salted. They got the science right on the fries few places figure this out and for the record frozen fries almost always have a snappier bite than fresh i have no issues with frozen fries. Kudos!

Burger was well cooked and flavorful... no fancy bun or anything so this isn't gourmet burger its just a proper burger cooked properly, which I think makes this place 5 stars as the price after tax was very good considering the economy and touristy location.

Good parking, order sent to your table, servers check up on you. Good seating design no log jam areas and plenty of intimate 2 person tables.

I mean... I could disect it further but what's the point I already highly recommend this...

Best food we've had so far in the Outer Banks. Fast, very reasonable, and DELICIOUS!

Truly a diamond in the rough. The portions are big, and the prices are tiny. After striking out at so many local eateries that don't care about food or service, we stumbled across Spanky's. So glad we did! The owner of the place took our orders, and I never saw a smile leave his face. He talked with every customer and was obviously very concerned that everyone had a great experience.

The food was perfect beach fare. My crabcake was very flavorful, and I sneaked some of my boyfriend's catfish sandwich, which was equally good. The fish stuck out of the bun a full 3 inches on both sides! The prices are 1/3 of what you'll find anywhere else, and I saw some of the $4.99 dinner specials pass, which were HUGE. They also had burgers, hot dogs, meatloaf, flounder, popcorn shrimp, and sweet potato fries. It was so good, we got 2 more orders to go!
