Well I was surprised tonight by lack of compassion showed by the staff at The new Double Dogs on Kingston pike . I am handicapped and require a table to sit at with my family. I use a walker to support myself and need it due to my recovering from Gillian Barre Syndrome. So as expected we would have to wait it’s a 6:30 on a Friday night, we are told we are number 3 on the list and it shouldn’t be long... 48 mins later after watching numerous people get sat before us and my wife’s 6th time walking our 5 year old around the building our buzzer goes off. Great a table is available... They know I am using a walker and have seen me sitting outside the entrance doors in the sun. So here we go to the table we have waited on we are taken thru the bar area where I have to ask numerous people to please move and it’s hard for me and this walker but by god I’m not gonna be a shut-in while I heal. We get to the table there are 6 tables 3 and 3 our table is the middle one to the back. There is no way for me to get thru that area without making everyone move and low and behold there is a family of 3 that came after us sitting at an outside table. So we politely said no thank you, not understanding how they expected me to get to that table and left the restaurant after almost an hour of waiting. The staff showed no compassion for the handicapped or even acknowledgment that they may have made a mistake. We have been long time Double Dogs patrons and this was our first outing there since I got sick almost 2 years ago and we normally go to the one in Hardin Valley but we won’t be going to the Kingston Pike Double Dogs again. The restaurants set up can in no way be ADA compliant. Your staff needs some compassion training and to let us leave with out even some acknowledgement of hey we messed up sorry is just plain bad business and customer service, and no one asked to become handicapped.
Sincerely, Lost Business

Read moreThe food at Double Dogs was good, but the service left a lot to be desired.
We didn’t see our server again after she took our order until the entrées arrived, which wouldn’t normally be a big deal—except she completely forgot to ring in our appetizers. What made it even more confusing was that we watched her write it down, so the appetizers should have been the first thing on her list. We sat there for about 25 minutes with nothing but our drinks and didn’t get a chance to follow up because she never came back.
Now, I’m not saying this was intentional, but as the only Black patron in the restaurant, the situation felt odd. It was almost comical when I quietly mentioned this to my husband, and the server just happened to be nearby. Shortly after, she returned to her station, and the cook—who also happened to be Black—briefly appeared in the doorway before disappearing again, almost like they were “showing him off.” The whole thing was weird and left a sour taste in my mouth.
That was especially disappointing because the food was delicious—as far as hot dogs go. The fries were perfectly crisp and thankfully unseasoned because, honestly, what’s wrong with just salt? The chili I sampled from my husband’s plate was yummy (finding a bay leaf in it made me smile; no surprise it tasted good). I wasn’t a fan of the coleslaw, though. It wasn’t sweet, and since I don’t like mayo, I need that sweetness to mask the taste.
It’s a real shame we missed out on the sausage queso and chips because of one inattentive waitress’s forgetfulness. Hopefully, our next visit will be smoother because the food...
Read moreI’ve been to the two Knoxville locations numerous times. Three things that are great:
-Always very clean. Bathrooms and restaurant. -Staff is always very attentive and friendly. -Atmosphere is really nice. Many TVs great place to watch sports!
But here’s the problem. The food I’ve experienced (every time) is horrible. The quality is very bad, worse than any restaurant that I can think of. We went there tonight and I had the same experience that I’ve always had with the food being poor quality. Specifics:
As an appetizer we ordered the queso with meat & chips appetizer. The queso with meat was decent, but the tortilla chips were awful. Basically the same chips as a big grocery store generic brand.
I ordered the cheese pizza with my son to split. It was overly cheesy, greasy and the crust was very bad.
My wife ordered the Stroganoff Mac & Cheese. We both thought it tasted extremely bland and the cheese used was not good.
My son got Mac & Cheese. He didn’t eat it.
My daughter got a house salad. She enjoyed it, but she’s 8 and only has lettuce, cheese, bacon and ranch dressing.
To be fair, I’ve never had one of their Hot Dogs. This maybe what they are known for, so I can’t comment on that. But overall the menu is only bar food; but bad bar food.
Additionally, for a sports bar, it’s a disappointing draft beer selection. I’d think they would have 20+ beers on tap. I only saw 7-8 options on their menu.
After 20% tip, our family of four spent $98. I can think of ten places within a five mile radius where we could have spent less and had exponentially...
