5+⭐ Family owned and operated for more than a generation. 3 to be precise 🥹 Well, I have to admit, we didn't really know about the "Lunch House." A really nice fella named "Reese" told us about this place when we were eating some barbecue at another joint. (Buddy's) Let me say, the menu is not overbearing, what they do, they do well, they do inexpensively, and, the flavors are out of this world! Of course, the age of the facility gives it the old timey feel, from the 40s or 50s. Bathrooms, kitchen, dining rooms, all spotless! 🤜🦠🤛 Ownership pride and Christian values dictate a fantastic experience, to me anyway. Everybody's is coming in to Chow down at breakfast and lunch time. Doesn't matter the persuasion of the individual! Just good food to fill an empty stomach. I haven't seen prices like this for about 30 years! So, stop in for not just an experience, but a pallet tickling event, lol! Really, really good folks! 😁👍

My husband and I like to find local places when traveling rather than eating at restaurant chains. We decided we wanted sandwiches for lunch and discovered The Lunch House, a family-owned business. Service was quick and we enjoyed our meals - a tuna sandwich and a burger (and sweet tea!). It was obvious that this place is frequented by repeat customers, and it’s obvious why: the staff is friendly, works hard and enjoys what they do. The space reminded us of an old diner and simpler times. Stop in and try the homemade blackberry or peach cobbler! (We arrived 1/2 an hour before closing and were the last ones to leave, hence the empty chairs in my pic.)

I'm homesick for my hometown of Albemarle NC now. Right here in the middle of DT Knoxville sits this 1932's house turned mom n pops cafe with a lunch counter, old school cash register & they go old school on handwriting all your orders. Full of farmers, guys in overalls, construction workers and old timers who are obviously regulars. I can't remember the last time I found a place outside NC that serves old fashioned chocolate pie, and chicken livers are hard to find too. I got livers, beets, white beans and cucumber, tomatoes and onions. What a find! Very clean but completely authentic place. Nothing updated to look modern.

I really do like the place, and its staff, but in the last five years, their selection for vegetarians has gone down, and they still are cash only, which is a huge pain in the ass. I used to be able to get breakfast items (specifically a veggie cheese omelette or egg and cheese sandwich) all day, or a grilled peanut butter and cheese, with lettuce. Not anymore; their veggie plate some days has nothing substantial I can eat (their beans are seasoned with meat). They are only open till 3PM, they frequently run out of sides, and sometimes the mains, and they have Coke, not Pepsi. Their home fried potatoes (with onion and peppers if you want)...
