Initially disappointed because showed a few booths of indoor dining, but despite having to eat our drive-in food in the heat (we found a shady spot at nearby Chilhowee Park), we came away with a very favorable opinion of this iconic Knoxville purveyor of longstanding favorite restaurant menu fare. We ordered lasagna; pizza with Italian sausage, peppers, onion and mushrooms; onion rings; Greek salad; and a whole coconut cream pie. I was told the lasagna was exceptional, and it must have been because I was not offered a bite as the eater selfishly enjoyed the whole generous entree by himself. My pizza had a delicious chewy yet almost crisp crust with some of the best tasting sausage I've ever sampled. The sauce was fresh tasting and complemented the toppings and cheese. Next time I'll to ask they bake it extra done just because I prefer the cheese on my pizza pie toasty. Oh, the onion rings! Reminded me of those I used to have at Howard Johnson's back in the day. The breading was finely textured and lightly coated the thick onion pieces cooked to perfection. I ate more than I had planned; it was nearly impossible to stop repeating the taste testing! The pie came with a can of whipped topping and a side of maraschino cherries. I mostly subbed real dairy whipped cream at home but tried it with the topping provided and liked that nearly as much. The pie crust was tender and flaky. The real star was the dense custard just barely sweet which highlighted the flavor of the coconut. Be aware that cash is king here. You can pay inside on an ATM for a fee, so come prepared with folding money. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. Service was friendly, informative, attentive and quick. Definitely wondering what took me so long to try Pizza Palace. The extensive menu has so many items I'm eager to try. For the old original Pero's customers who remember their Black Bottom Pie, you can get it here; not surprising as this is a Peroulas family eatery. Next time! I'll be a repeat customer...

We ordered a large 3 topping pizza, whole order of onion rings, a chicken strip basket w onions rings, & a their special combination salad. We loved the nostalgia, vibe of this place, & old school ordering system! The pizza was fresh & delicious. The chicken strips with their sweet & sour sauce was delicious as well. As for the combination salad it was just lettuce, tomato, & cheese with your choice of dressing but it was a good also. The onion rings were our favorite out of it all. I would come here just for those crispy, fresh, huge onions rings! (& I’ve never liked onions rings until trying their onion rings) I only have 2 complaints. First is we when she brought our food out we noticed it was missing our whole huge order of onion rings & when my husband went inside to tell them they forgot them the lady said I know they were on there which they wasn’t it was the chicken strips basket with onion rings that she was referring to & thought that’s what it was. They did make us a fresh order but she was trying to make it seem like we was lying about it. I just wanted what I paid for! Especially if the onion rings were $6.25 (well worth it might I add) Secondly with all of the food and onion rings we had they didn’t give us any ketchup so my son went in to get some ketchup and they literally gave him 3 packets and said that’s all they could give him if he wanted anymore that it would be $1 per a tiny cup! That to me was insane! 3 little packets of ketchup for all of the onion rings we had and then my other sons chicken strips & onion rings! Other than those 2 things everything was great. So when we go again we will bring our own ketchup for our...

UPDATE... We have been buying theses pizzas quite regularly, but those days are now gone. We ordered a large cheese pizza with extra cheese but when they brought it out it didn't have extra cheese like the previous 30+ pizzas. We questioned the extra cheese and the car hop waitress came out, with attitude, and took the pizza back inside. Shortly afterwards the manager came out and DEBATED the issue with us and said he made the pizza and it had extra cheese. IT WAS A JOKE!!! When we buy our pizzas we always get 1 small pepperoni with extra pepperoni an sometimes extra cheese, but we always get a large cheese with extra cheese. We love these cheese pizzas because the extra cheese is ooey gooey delicious. This one was just ordinary cheese. The time before this they brought our pizza out to the car, after waiting an hour and it was cold and the cheese was not warm. The consistency is NOT there anymore and when you drive 25 miles with gas prices they way they are, you at least expect to get what you pay for. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! FIRST REVIEW If you love pizza this is a great place for simple pizzas. They have a great sauce nice thin and crunchy crust that you can tell has been fire brick oven cooked. We always get cheese pizza with extra cheese and my son gets pepperoni with extra cheese. We have never been...

It had been decades since I had been to this restaurant. It had been a favourite growing up, so my wife and I ordered a to go from there. Growing up I had only had the sandwiches, the onion rings and of course, the pizza. So we decided to try their mains. I ordered the Veal Parmesan and she ordered the lasagna. We also ordered a small pizza and onion rings. Upon arrival, the "car hop" told me to wait in the car and she would bring my food to me. I told her that I needed to use their ATM and she rolled her eyes and went inside. After using their version of an ATM, the eye rolling car hop hastily without regard put my order in bags and pushed them at me. Everything was absolutely horrible!!! The veal Parmesan was soggy and had what seemed to be a metallic taste to it as did the lasagna. The onion rings had obviously been cooked in old oil. The pizza reminded me of a high end frozen pizza and even the salad had brown bits in it. Both me and my wife got food poisoning later that night... Don't trust nostalgia and memories. This is NOT the Pizza Palace you grew up loving. Not only is it horrible, there's a HUGE chance that you will get food poisoning like we did. STAY AWAY!!!

To each their own and today, my own was a stop at this drive-up pizza and spaghetti joint. I did manage to fit my Sprinter van into the spot though it was a tight fit. After hitting the button and placing my order, it only took about 12 minutes for my order to be prepared and brought out to me. A very nice lady with a big smile handed it over, made change, and I was on my way. I opted not to eat in the van, taking it with me for about 15 minutes down the highway to a rest area. The spaghetti with meatballs was a big portion. Hearty sauce and al dente noodles, I managed to eat the whole thing without spilling one drop on my shirt. That's a plus. The small "super" pizza was also delicious though a bit underdone for my taste. Doughy crust, lots of toppings (pepperoni, onions, peppers, sausage and more), it was nicely sliced. As I'd just finished the pasta, I only had one slice with dinner and the rest for lunch the next day. The veggies were quite crunchy and not cooked much. If that's how you like your onions and peppers, you'll love it. I'm glad I was able to hit up this spot. Good stuff.
