If it was possible to leave a “no star” rating that’s what this place would get. We were in town for the Knoxville National’s and decided to try it...big mistake! I ordered the special, country fried STEAK, green beans, mashed potatoes and a coke. 1st, the drink came with a cup of ice and a CAN of coke for $1.80 with NO refills, my fault I should have read the menu but still outrageous. When the food came I asked if I had ordered country fried steak or chicken, she said steak we don’t have country fried chicken. At this point I was confused because my “steak” was some kind of processed frozen type pattie and it was an extremely light colored meat, it looked more like chicken but she assured me it wasn’t. The green beans had the straight from a can flavor and the mashed potatoes were your usual out of a box. My husband and son ordered fish, one with cod and one with catfish. My son couldn’t even eat his catfish because it tasted so bad and my husband ate as much as he could before throwing in the towel. And to top it off the bill was almost $40. I don’t normally leave reviews but this one was so bad I felt the need to pass on the information. I’m not sure how the others have left such...
Read moreThere is no way this diner has 4.5 stars. Looking at the reviews it seems that Mrs.D's took over the reviews for Mr. C's. Which shouldn't be allowed. If your familiar with Mr. C's just don't waste your time. We drive 25-30 minutes from Indianola for Mr. C's. I didn't realize it was under new ownership when we came this morning. Once we got there the old charm of Mr. C's was gone. They did open the building up which does look a bit bigger which now just echos. The food was horrible! We paid $39 and left majority of food all but a few bites. The biscuits and gravy tasted burnt. I informed them and ordered something different but still had to pay for food that we couldn't even eat due to the flavor. Eggs had no flavor, a very cheap egg. Cinnamon roll was dry and COVERED with butter. The frosting was about 1x1 inch area on the side of the plate. We ended up stopping at McDonalds on the way home! I'm sad to see a well...
Read moreFirst time eating here and definitely WON'T BE my last. The food was absolutely fantastic! I had 3 eggs that tasted like they just came off the farm, hashbrowns cook to perfection, 2 "small" pancakes (they were not small at all), and white toast. 😋 This meal took me back to breakfast at my grandma's house. Right down to the warm and inviting smile of our waitress. Didn't catch her name, but props to her and all the other staff there. They work like a well oiled machine. The atmosphere was very welcoming and cozy.
