Rib Shack — Restaurant in Knoxville

The food is great. But there is a catch you should know about. It says their brisket is $16 a pound this is true, BUT - you must order a whole pound of brisket in order to get that price. Meaning you cannot order a quarter of a pound and pay a quarter of a pound price which would be four dollars. Because a quarter of pound is what they put in their brisket sandwiches, you will be charged $11 for that quarter of a pound of brisket even though you did not order a sandwich. You only ordered the meat. And if you question it, the person at the cash register, that I got today, will become quite snippy and tell you there’s nothing she can do about it. I think this policy should be written out on the board that they do not sell brisket in less than 1 pound quantities. I will still come back for the great food, but lesson learned. I will never order quarter pound of brisket again. I was asked to pay over half the price ($11) for a pound of brisket for only a quarter of a pound for brisket. There’s something inherently wrong with that. A quarter of a pound is always a quarter of a pound whether it’s brisket or feathers and you shouldn’t have to pay for over a half a pound for a quarter of a pound...

We stopped in after the Sunday lunch crowd had cycled through, as we traveled through town. The food was really good. The quality was intact and the presentation and appeal of the restaurant was solid.

We ordered the special sandwich that day with cole slaw on top. Pretty darned good stuff. My son ordered fries and chicken strips and while our food was prepared immediately he had to wait quite a while. This is no problem, but it would have been better if the crew working the establishment had relayed that information over to us. After we sat there letting the food get cold waiting, we asked about it, and the remark we received was given in such a way that we should have expected to wait.

Again, not a problem, but the communication could have helped quite a bit.

4.5 stars for food. 4.0 stars for layout and ergonomics. 3.5 stars for communication...

My wife and I visit the Rib Shack when we are visiting her family about once a month. We also bring our friends and racing team into Rib Shack.

Tonight we were running a bit busy and super hungry. We walked into the Rob shack at 7:56 and the sign in the door said Open. They said they close at 8 and are closed. I understand it is close to 8pm but it is not 8pm. 3 other customers walked up and they had just locked the door still before 8.

That’s 5 customers before the closing time that they refused service.

Poor way to run a business and satisfy customers. Will not be returning, will not recommend and will pass on the word about their lack of need for quality business and pleasing customers within their advertised hours and open sign visible with an...
