It smelled amazing walking up to it. Got seated quickly, but it took a little long to get checked on for the first time. Not horrible by any means, just a little long. We ordered vegetable tempura, the sushi B, and chicken katsu. The veg tempura was cooked well and tasted fine. It was just a little skimpy. Now, I know fresh veggies on Kodiak are not necessarily cheap, but I feel like another piece or two would have made it feel worth it. The sushi B was pretty good. I can't say anything bad at all. Very well done. The tuna really melted in my mouth as did the other fish. Kudos on that dish. Now the katsu. I will preface with the fact that I am used to the katsu at Hawaiian restaurants that is made with dark meat. I love chicken Katsu. But this was made with very thin white meat. The portion was actually great. But it was just too dry to enjoy. I only ate half of it and didn't even bring the rest home. And that is unheard of for me. Also, the dipping sauce tasted like it was just A-1 steak sauce. Not really what I was expecting.
With those dishes and a soda, with exactly 15% tip, our bill came to $75.23.
Get the sushi, beware the tempura portion size, and do not get the katsu.
And lastly, the men's bathroom was...
Read moreIf zero was an option it would be mine. Walked in a few mins before opening 10 to be exact and walked up to the greeter just excited to be there and the look she gave me was meant to kill. I said I'm sorry I forgot you are not open so I sat down. She nodded. No less than 2 mins later two other women who seemed to be local as well as not "me" walked in and they were seated no issues. I stood up and that's when the greeter said oh she said two. No eye contact, no regard nothing. I was seated and the waitress was not much better, as if I am bothering her. My dinner date showed up and even she felt like we were not wanted there. She asked a question and the waitress was so off putting. The waitress decided to warm up much later. Why am I the patron tasked with ensuring you the waitress is having a good evening? Should it not be the other way around especially as I am paying? This seems to be part of a bigger issue. Bad food is one thing, bugs are another, but bad service is unacceptable. I will not be patronizing this establishment for the...
Read moreMy wife and dined there yesterday. Not a great experience. I had the Nabayaki Udon, a soup with chicken and seafood bits with noodles. Broth was tasty but the chicken was dried out, stringy and the seafood bits tasteless. Emma fared even worse with the salmon rice special. The salmon had the texture of a paste that had set solid with very little taste to it. It was served atop a bed of sticky rice, okay if you like that. She left it and mentioned to the waitress who came to take it away how unsatisfactory it was. Oh, sorry to hear that. And off she went. We heard no more about it and kicked ourselves for not being more assertive. Demand it be taken off the bill. Others have mentioned the neglect around refilling the water glass. Emma had to wait too, the empty glass sitting there. Finally caught the waitress’s eye. She refilled the glass but not mine, which was half empty. A lack of attention to detail, I guess. Altogether a...
