Chicken Day — Restaurant in La Cañada Flintridge

I got diarrhea from this place. Just ridiculous. Don't come here if you want to get a sick stomach and leave with a lot of issues!! I tried to give this place a chance, but it led up to this review. I went here few times and the first visit I had a upset stomach the whole night after about 1 hour of eating from here. Like the other reviews before me stated, the chicken is old and not good quality meat! It's true because after my first visit here, it happened again and again to my third visit here and literally kept me up all night going to the bathroom, and ended up making a working man not function the next following morning at my job. Also the service is not bad, but COULD BE better. I'm not sure if the young egotistic looking korean gentleman that works there as the server is the only one? But while he has decent customer service, but one thing I've noticed and many others noticed is that if you tell him "thank you" he NEVER says "you're welcome" or "No problem" back. While thats not a big issue, but it just, I guess comes off as a bit rude? Lastly, I'm korean and let me say that their chicken taste is not bad. But as far as the actual authentic korean fried chicken 'Ttongdak' it's not here in America. Korea is the only place for that. Keep calm and eat fried chicken. Without further ado let’s begin this review. Chicken Day is a korean owned chicken restaurant. They’re located at a tiny plaza on Foothill blvd in La Cañada. Indoor vibe and layout/design were banal but don’t let the at fool you because they serve good fried chicken. I’ve been to their new SGV location and therefore I know their fried chicken is great. I ordered their Lunch combo #2 (4 drumsticks, steam rice, coleslaw and soda). It was as tasty, crunchy and deliciously flavorful. Prices were very competitive. Parking lot is very limited but had no trouble finding a spot. Staff (a young man and a middle aged woman) were amiable, competent and professional. However, my memory serves me correctly they failed to follow health covid (mask) protocol. Service was mildly slow. Serving was average. Overall, I had a smooth lunch order take out. I love K-pops and chicken dishes the most, so I've eaten many Korean style chickens, but the chicken here is really really the worst of the worst that I can only be described as trash (not a joke) The chicken soup the lady recommended was not cooked at all and tough. I and my husband couldn't eat it at all, so I had no choice but feed it to my 2years old German shepherd. What was the most disgusting of all is the chicken smelled yucky like when chicken is not fresh. I worked at El Pollo Loco and KFC many years ago for US permanent visa for about 4years, so I can tell the smell of low quality chicken. I don't know who the owner is here, but he/she really has no conscience, perhaps thinking that deep-frying or deep-boiling would hide the freshness of low-quality ingredients.
