My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently on a Friday and decided to try the fish. We heard good things about the food so thought we'd try it out. She ordered the fish sandwich and I ordered the large (3 piece) fish dinner. Both were served with crinkle cut fries. Both the fish sandwich and the fish dinner were fabulous. Large thick chunks of hot crispy fish fresh from the fryer. The coleslaw was very tasty as well. The waitress was very pleasant and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend if you want a good Wisconsin fish fry! We'll be back for sure to try some of the other specials.

It's a great place to get a good meal, great service, and good, cold beer. Really enjoyed my first visit with my Mom and Brother so much that we went back again the next day. Linda was a hoot and took great care of us. Food was awesome, especially the fried cheese curds. Hillsboro Craft Beers on tap were cold and tasty. Really enjoyed my visits and will definitely go back the next time I am in town.

really nice decor. Combo appetizer batter-fried basket (onion rings, mushrooms, and cheese curds) was also really good. Batter-fried cod was white, flaky, and delicious. Soup and salad bar was also good and well maintained. Our server, Addy, was nice, efficient, and friendly. Overall, a great experience!

I should have posted this review closer to the date that I tried Houghton's for the first time, but I am now just getting around to it. It wasn't long ago, there was snow on the ground, so within the last couple of months.

I had seen ads for Houghton's on TV and their pizza looked amazing! One Saturday, I talked my husband into going there and trying it. We are always looking for a good pizza joint. Let's just say our experience was neither really good nor really bad, it was "interesting".

We arrived mid-afternoon and entered into the dining area. We were told to pick our seats and someone would be with us shortly. We sat down and waited and waited. We waited long enough that I was ready to get up and leave. But finally, someone came with menus and took our drink order. By the time she was back, we were ready to order.

We went there set on pizza. When we ordered, our waitress had to ask whether or not they served pizza on Saturday. She came back with, "since we have a dishwasher on Saturdays now, we do serve pizza". Confused by the statement, we continued with our order. I can see a pizza oven being crucial to making pizzas, but a dishwasher? Why wouldn't a restaurant have a dishwasher every day of the week?

With our pizza, we ordered a sampler basket. When asked if we would like ranch with it, we declined. Neither one of us like ranch dressing, not even on salads. But we weren't asked just this once, we were repeatedly asked. Even with our pizza!

As we sat, eating our pizza, our waitress was helping another table within earshot of us. She explained to them that when she asked us if we wanted ranch, we "looked at her like she was from outer space". It wasn't necessarily rude of her to say, just surprising that she would say it within hearing distance of us.

But, the food was good. It was more the whole experience, that wasn't all that great. I can't honestly say that I would return, but there is a full menu that might be worth looking at again. We'll see if we're ever in the area again to give...

They might have good food but there help they have is very awful and very unprofessional especially when it comes to getting a take out order.. You walk in and ask to get a take out order and immediately your push off too someone else who is as much of a pot head as the person you ask to get the take out order from in the first place and really should not be that hard to have a simple tack like that be so hard to get pulled off.... Now I was told by one of the employees that there fish was good and it is good when you actually get someone half way decent to give the order too in a mannerly fashion... I give this place 1 star for the unprofessional staff that is currently there and I hope if they want to be top notch that everybody knows what there rolls are starting off with the BAR crew of this place the bartender take bar orders that means drink and also food its kind of a multi tack job a bar waitress is a person that walk the outside of the bar taking multi orders from table she is assign too and is also subject to the person who walk from the outside in to place a take out order to them not told its not there job and refer to another person THAT IS THERE JOB!!!!!!! Perhaps management needs to visit another restaurant bar business like Features in West Salem and take notes on how a well organized and a professional staff really acts... I would not recommend this place too no one because of the unprofessional staff this place has it can't make its mind up if it's a BAR or if it's a restaurant or if it's BOTH!!! definitely it isn't BOTH!!!! cause if it was it would not be run the...

Ok so... The chicken dumpling soup almost made up for it, but we had the worst dining experience I think I've ever had. Our waitress was very inattentive in the bar. I think if we would have stayed in the dining room we would've been fine, but we met others for a total group of six & decided to sit at a hightop in the bar. Anyway, the middle aged gal obviously was distracted by a group of guys sitting at the next hightop. She visited their table SIX times during our near to 40 minute wait for our food. When the food wasn't coming to the table we finally asked and was told she "had to run down the cook who was outside". Why wasn't she checking on our food? And, when she finally brought the food to the table it was cold and we were late for a VITERBO play. Wouldn't recommend eating in the bar even if you have the time to wait on the staff. Then when we finally got our individual bills they were wrong & there were several incorrect charges which took forever for her to figure them out. On top of which, after we tried to politely explain the problem with the bill this waitress lost patience with one of the guests. Perhaps this was a one time incident, but still would not recommend anyone possibly subjecting themselves to...
