Labor & Delivery
Loren was the best labor nurse I ever had. She treated me like I was a real person. An experience I didnât have before with other hospitals. The delivery room was spacious and beautiful. Equipped with so many methods to manage your laborâ I made it 20 hours pain med free with the options and their supportive delivery staff.
There was an OB there that really shouldnât be an OB however. I canât remember her name because it was a foreign name I couldnât pronounce, but she was a very small woman. She tried checking my cervix, and because she was so small so were her fingers, and Iâm assuming this is why it took her so long. Honestly if she wasnât a woman I would have reported her for assault cause thatâs how her trying to check my cervix feltâ painful and violating.
I saw her again in my recovery room and simply told her ânoâ. I couldnât explain why since I had just finished a 24 hour labor and still hadnât slept yet (it was 5 or 6 hours after my labor I think), but I wasnât going to let that woman touch me again. If being small is going to cause her to have to finger someone violently to do a proper check she needs to pick another profession.
I was also disappointed that the recovery room didnât look anything like what was in the virtual tour. It was cramped and uncomfortable. I realize maybe they want the recovery room to be uncomfortable, so people donât try to extend their stay, but again itâs not what I was expecting.
Because of the cramped room thereâs no space for the nurses to do their checks, and tests on the newborn (which apparently HAVE to be done in the middle of the night) without also keeping you awake. I realize thereâs the option for the nurses to take the baby elsewhere so you can rest, but I donât care what precautions there are I wasnât letting people leave the room with my baby.
(I was here for roughly 3 days; I didnât sleep).
Also for some reason the nurses kept telling each other I had a history of Bipolar Depression, and I told them multiple times I didnât. They didnât try to talk to me about it when I would say something theyâd just ignore me and continue telling the next shiftâs nurse I had that (again I donât).
Finally there was a day time nurseâ I believe her name was Kate, Kat or Kay, but she does NOT like her job. I was having painful breastfeeding, and the lactation consultant was occupied, so she âstepped inâ. She just moved things around in the room talking fastâ repeating that it shouldnât hurt, so I must be doing something wrong (it was just cause Iâm large breasted and my newborn was small, so I had to wait for them to get bigger to breastfeed comfortably).
She looked like she hated me for having issues and needing assistance. So I lied and said it didnât hurt anymore so she would go away, because her annoyed demeanor was upsetting me. The only time she was nice was when we were discharged.
Iâve delivered 3 times, and as sad as it sounds this was still my best delivery experience if you...
Read moreI went into the emergency room om the 25th because I was having a lot of pain when I got to the emergency room the emergency room Department seem to be okay they admitted me for observation once I get up on the floor it seemed very odd to me I had to get into my bed by myself throughout the night the nurses were giving me medication to help with the pain but one in particular nurse came in my room I have some medicine for you and I said I'm not feeling very well she gave me something for pain she said she had a nausea medication and I asked what is it promethazine and it is a pill and plus an aspirin I told her that I could not take promethazine pill form because for some reason my stomach cannot tolerate promethazine pill form because it makes me sick she told me I still had to take it I told her okay I'll be puking then and that's what I did and the following day I was still puking my guts out tried to order some food before I left the hospital on Friday but I could not eat because I was puking and this is what I don't understand number one how can they let a patient leave the hospital knowing that they're puking their guts out and they can't even keep food down or liquids for that matter that doesn't make sense to me and then after I left the doctor wrote in my chart said I was allergic to penicillin amoxicillin Augmentin and I'm not allergic to thoes meds and on my after review summary it said I needed to follow up with an allergy specialist concerning those medicines so they could do an allergy test I will not do that I don't see the point in doing that because I am not allergic to those medications that I had just mentioned yes I have other allergies I know positively that I am allergic to the medicines that I am allergic to and I had multiple allergy test in the past so we will not be doing another allergy test and I am trying to be very nice like I am supposed to be but this is upsetting to me and I have to voice my opinion and this is how I feel it's like they don't believe a word I say there is only one person in the medical field that I trust and it surely isn't them and you're not supposed to feel like that as a patient so this is sad and they judge everything and base everything off of your past history and write things and base things off of past providers as well they don't think that patients can change over the years and how sad and disappointing is that on march 21 went too the emergency room for right upper quadrant discomfort and the er doctor rude nasty and a lier but that night i got transfered up too the hospital floor to have surgery next morning it was a bad exsperence all the way around dont ever go to guderson lutheren...
