My family and I have been to Seven Loaves Kitchen (SLK) twice now.
The restaurant is gorgeous and atypical for the area. Anyone familiar with Campbell County knows that fine dining isn’t often expected here, so SLK is a welcome addition!
The interior is exceptional. Upon entering, you're greeted by a friendly staff and a counter full of delicious-looking baked goods.
We’ve enjoyed both of our visits—once for dinner and once for breakfast. Each time, the meals were delicious, and we left knowing we’d be back soon to continue exploring what the menus have to offer.
However, despite all the praise, there are a few areas where SLK could improve:
Staggered Meal Service I’m not sure why, but the restaurant doesn’t serve all meals at the table simultaneously, as you'd typically expect. On both visits, our food was brought out one plate at a time, which resulted in my daughter finishing her entire meal before my wife and I received ours.
While observing other tables, I noticed this same practice—meals being delivered a plate or two at a time rather than all together.
Server Behavior Between Orders When not serving, several staff members tend to congregate at the front of the restaurant, lounging in customer seating near the entrance. While I understand the need to take breaks, it can feel off-putting to watch servers socializing in guest areas—especially while you’re still waiting on your meal and your child is already eating hers.
There should absolutely be a rest area for the staff, but ideally not where it’s so visible to diners who are waiting.
Table Covers This last point is minor, but worth noting: some of the dining tables have a spill-resistant covering applied over the wood. While I appreciate the intention, the execution isn’t great. The material is loosely applied, causing noticeable wrinkles across the tabletop. It’s a small annoyance, but one that clashes with the otherwise polished aesthetic of the restaurant.
Conclusion: SLK is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food, and it's a much-needed breath of fresh air in Campbell County, where dining options like this are rare.
The critiques I've mentioned are not critical—just constructive. The restaurant clearly has a strong local following, and I imagine the practice of serving dishes as soon as they’re ready is a way to maintain quality and avoid delays.
Overall, I believe anyone would enjoy eating at SLK if given the opportunity. It’s a sweet escape from the typical fast food options we’re...
Read moreTook my Mother (94 years and on a walker) to eat lunch on Saturday. They close at 3 and it was probably 2:15 when we started slowly through the door. I asked one of the ladies if she would prefer we came back. She was so very gracious to encourage us to come on in. She helped find the easiest seat for Momma. The menu was new to us and not what Momma is used to. Our sweet waitress was brand new and so very patient with us. She brought us a sample of the soup of the day so Mom could try it.
The food was DELICIOUS! I had grilled salmon on a salad and it was so very good! Momma had the Reuben and there was enough for both of us. The fries were AMAZING! I loved the food and the atmosphere but the employees made the experience undeniably one of the best I have had in LaFollette...
Read moreComing from only Day 2 of being opened: I ordered the Roast Beast due to the Reuben being sold out. My fiance ordered the grilled cheese. All of the sides were sold out except for hash browns. Our sandwiches didn't come out correctly, Roast Beast came with white onions instead of red and the other sandwich was missing it's tomato jam. Regardless we have both been in the service industry many years and are very excited for this new edition to town. Can't wait to come back and try it out when everything is available and kinks...
