Background: As part of our National Parks tour from our home state of Florida up through New York and then circling around. We were traveling along I-84 in Oregon. We had been hungry for awhile so when we saw an exit with some food options, we decided to pull off. We drove down a road that looked like it was the main road. As we drove past Nell's we saw a line of cars down both sides. That's usually a good sign, we drove a ways drove the road but decided to turn around and grab a bite to eat after we saw a picture of the menu someone had posted.
The food: Great
We ordered some steak burgers and a large order of curly fries.
The orders all seemed to be made as they are ordered. This results in a hot, juicy burger. A toasted big bun holds together this great tasting beef patty. A sauce topped the burger along with chopped onion and pickles. It was all fresh, hot and delicious.
A paper tray basket was heaped up with curly fries fresh from the fryer. Slightly thinner than normal with no zesty seasoning, these fries were really good. Salted just right and comes with some fry sauce which was the color of a mayochup mixture but the flavor was slightly different.
Ambiance: This is a little pull through drive up. There is a menu board and a speaker. You pull up to pay at the window. They accept credit cards. Friendly service.
Location/eating area: Some picnic benches are available to eat your food on. Fruit trees are planted along the line, possibly crab trees and ??? A trash can at the end of the grassy area for your bag and trash.
A gem of a place to grab a great...
Read moreThis place has some really great burgers, but it seemed to miss the mark on a few things.
The drive thru offers dual lanes, which helps make sure everyone is able to pull off the main street in front. However, it caused slight confusion as the central ordering speaker doesn't designate whose turn to order is up. It also took a while, before we got to order.
The menu has several great choices, but didn't differentiate between burgers and sandwiches or provide a list of ingredients. Burger prices hovered $7-$8 each, and didn't offer a combo of any kind.
My group ordered a burger and a shake. The price averaged about $12 something per person. While the burgers are quality and probably worth it. The shakes were small kid sized portions and not worth the price.
Once home we had to pick at each others orders until figuring out which one had no onions, and who didn't have mustard. A quick marker would save a lot of...
Read moreHeard the food was good. So waiting in line for over half an hour wasn’t a big deal. Pulled away from the window and realize we were short a burger. Went to the window and let them know. Waited for another 15 minutes. Manager holds the bag up and waves me over to the window and says that will be $9.50. I told her I had already paid for it. She proceeded to argue with me. I told her I wanted the receipt. She grabs a calculator and begins adding it up to prove I was wrong and realizes I had paid for it after causing a scene in front of the car I had to squeeze between to get the burger she should have brought to my car. Very poor customer service. Asked for them to refund my gratuity and the manager refused. Good food but not worth being...
