Archie's Restaurant — Restaurant in La Porte

If i could give 0 stars i would. Ive ate at many mom amd pop restrauants and this was by FAR the WORST. I should have left when i pulled in the parking lot and saw thier broken sign but i gave them the benif of the doubt. Upon entering it was a little unclear as to seat myself or not then find out we order at the counter. Walk up to the counter to give my order and there is a dirty plate filled with wrappers and scraps of food sitting right next to me. There was a young girl doing what looked to be homework at the counter so again i give the benifit of the doubt. Perhaps she sat it there... The prices were o.k and that was the only good thing. Go to sit down and the place is dead and not one single clean table and a filthy rag hanging half way off of one.. The nacho chips would have been better ny themselves without the "cheese" on them ill just say it tasted like liquid plastic on a salty chip... The fries i expected to be good because how can you mess those up? They tasted as if they had been deep fried in a week old pot of fish oil... thats when i walked out. Will NEVER go here again. Period. I suggest you stay away as well. Im surprised theyve been able to stay open this long without ever changing their name or ownership. Everyone in the restraunt was talking across the room to each other. i dont even think i would go here if i were blacked out drunk for a drink of water id rather lap it up like a dog out a...

Archie's used to be an every other weekend stop for me. Double Hobo w/cheese. This is the only reason for the two stars. Until about three years ago I never had a bad experience with Archie's. Over the past three years I have witnessed some crazy happenings here. The first and most crucial (just like Source from the 903) took place as I arrived to pick up my call in order. It was about 2:00 am on what was now Saturday morning and some portly thugs seemed to be having a territorial dispute with some rival wigthugs. Long story short, the 380 pound gentleman announced to everybody, "We GON EET!" Repeating this some 27 times. The scene ended with the front door, which is made of full plate glass, being broken as it was violently mishandled. Shortly thereafter, I did not frequent Archie's as I moved outside of town (I lived 3 blocks away before). I would maybe stop in every other month now for the past couple of years, each time with a progressively worse problem. They consistently have difficulty getting orders correct, if a health inspector who gave a damn actually observed their hygiene habits they would be closed, and folks come in to cash checks to buy drugs in the bathroom or...

This place is a hidden gem. This is one of those places you have to try out for yourself.

The burgers are huge and topped with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. They’re a must try!

The fries are crispy and hot.

The breakfast is good. They make good eggs, sausage, bacon and toast. The biscuits and gravy are ok…I think they are flavorless. They need more spice and sausage in the gravy.

The sandwiches are good and I’ve had several different specials that were tasty. They have fish specials on the weekend.

Now, the takeout is another story, I came to get a to go order and the food was not what you get as a dine in meal. I purchased a double cheeseburger with everything and fries and when I got home that burger looked liked it was leftover from the day before. It was dry and the bun was stale and the fries were a very small portion. This could be due to whoever the cook is.
