Rocky Mountain Cafe — Restaurant in La Porte

Very disappointed. I was researching a new place to get breakfast goodies, and this place checked off all the boxes. I actually thought I'd have a hard time choosing between scones or muffins. Yeah...they had 3 regular scones that were all apple & cinnamon flavored, and 4 small scones, 3 of which were also apple & cinnamon and 1 blueberry. I also saw two danish-type pastries. That's it. That is the extent of the food they had in the case. I thought since I had only been here once before a few years ago (tons of options that time) that I just didn't know where the treasure trove of deliciousness was stored. Alas, I was verbally advised that those few items were the extent of their offerings. I grabbed the small blueberry scone so I'd have something to eat this morning, but didn't bother with trying the hot chocolate like I intended. I've since been told by a friend (so can't confirm 100%) that this place is under a new owner and they just kept the name, so perhaps that is why the information I found was...

Atmosphere was nice and upbeat, owners and staff are friendly and easy going. Service was good, promptly handed menus and had orders taken.

Coffee was pretty Good, for a dark roast. The barista did a good job, wasn’t burnt or “ashy” no grinds left in the cup. For coffee stops around the Frenchville and Norman gardens area, it would be the best available.

Food was well presented, cutlery and cups etc were clean. It was easy to tell ingredients were fresh and prepared in house, not frozen and re heated. I did find the turmeric chicken to be a little dry although full of flavour. The brisket bowl needed more brisket, less rice, the jam relish was definitely a highlight. The Benny bagel was very tasty, however there definitely could have been more Hollandaise or even some on the side to add what you like.

The drive through is a half of an alley that you can't access from the parking lot of the Cafe. Super hard to pull in to. I ordered a pb avalanche based on positive reviews but will say i taste 0 pb, and have 0 pb aftertaste. It's more like a mocha iced latte and I would say a medium tasting one at best. I would probably not go out of my way to come here again and explore other places instead. To edit, the service was great, super friendly person at window. I did not order food and this was my first time here looking for a good cup of coffee in the area. Just an honest review...
