El Pollito Express #2 — Restaurant in La Vergne

First time trying here. We came on a Friday night around 7pm. I tried it based on reviews but everything tasted bland and flavorless. I ordered the quesabirria and the consome tasted close to water. My dad got the barbacoa nachos and they were flavorless. He also got some asada tacos and he said they were not seasoned at all. The only thing that was ok was the carnitas plate and carnitas tacos that my mom got. The carnitas had some flavor but the rice and beans tasted like nothing… literally like the beans were boiled in water and then blended, no salt no anything added. Rice tasted like it was cooked in water a little tomato sauce and that’s it. Cheese dip and salsa had a sour taste like it was bad… probably will be sick tonight. Not good and definitely not worth the price....

The prices are really confusing and they usually don’t have someone who speaks English fluently working, so ordering is hard and I always end up paying more than I think I will cause it’s hard to communicate. I paid $12.49 for chips and guac, two tiny barbacoa tacos, and horchata. The portion sizes of the tacos and the guac is so small that I can’t really say I feel like I got my money’s worth. Everything also needed more salt, the food lacked flavor. The horchata is ok but a little watered down. Because it seems like the prices are going up while the food quality stays the same I probably won’t be back, but give it a try if you’re craving mexican fast food in lavergne, the drive thru is...

My biggest complain is the portion size. Their burritos, plate of carne asada, and tortas are smaller than Oscars Taco Shop and than most taco trucks. The prices are only $1-2 difference from Oscars Taco Shop. I would rather pay the extra dollars for bigger portions. I will say that the Horchata is very delicious and authentic. Large cups too.The customer service is great, very friendly. The wait time could also be too long during lunch time, so don't expect to order and eat in your 30 minute lunch break. I think if the portions were bigger and the wait times improved, this would be the best in La Vergne and worth the drive from the Lake...
