I've brought plenty of people here and never had an issue, this includes groups of 10+ people. I tend to rave about this place and tonight was no different, but the Cosmos did not prepare me for the terrible service and extremely unprofessional management I had to deal with tonight.
We got a table for four people. We had to ask the server over and over again where our food, refills, etc were. Two of our friends got entree's while me and another friend got all you can eat sushi. We got our appetizers, entree's, and the first plate of sushi fine... But it went downhill fast after that.
We were there for three hours (we got there at 6:30 and didn't leave until 9:30) and only got two plates of sushi (between two people) which is not a lot at all. This was because the second plate of sushi we asked for she lost our order not once, not twice, but three times. To get on our second course it took an hour if not more, which by then our friends were almost done with their food. We also had to wait on other food items because she brought out my friends desserts out before mine. When she did bring it out, it was the wrong dessert, so we had to wait even longer. At that point we were pretty much ready to leave because it had taken forever. We also never actually got a refill on our Ginger Peach tea (which we had asked about 40 minutes prior). Now honestly if it was a few mistakes I would have understood, I know mistakes happen, but this was ridiculous.
Also in the middle of our dining experience, they got really huffy at us because we were using three tables (which are small to begin with). Before we could really even react this one server just comes up to us and was like 'Yeah we're taking one of these tables because people are coming'. She barely gave us time to move the plates and everything and just ripped the table and chairs from us. When the couple who got said table came to sit down, they didn't understand why they just didn't get a table on the other side of the room which was completely vacant and usable from what I understand. They also ended up waiting 40 minutes for their meal and the male ended up getting up to get his own drink because they were taking that long.
I've never not tipped before, and I've never had bad service at this place before, but it was so bad that this was the exception to the rule. Even to just have them take the check? Took about 15-20 minutes before we decided to just get up and actually give it to them at the service desk. We paid for our meals and headed out the door, thinking our experience was over.
We walked out the door (without tipping) and said our goodbyes, but after only two minutes out the door, one of the ladies (I imagine she was a manager of some sort) actually RAN outside after us, our check and money in hand, asking why we didn't tip. I had to list off every single reason and explain that the service was deplorable. She said she understood but I can't imagine she was pretty happy. And really, if we didn't tip, you should probably understand that there's a reason. You SHOULD NOT be running out the doors after we already paid for our meal asking WHY we didn't tip. It's completely unprofessional and I couldn't believe they had the nerve to do that after all the service.
It's a shame because the food here is extremely good and well worth the money, but after service like this I don't think I'll be coming back for a long time. If I want to get all you can eat sushi, I will go to Osaka, and if I just want decent asian food and drink with friends, I will go to Fuji's.
After all, they're billions and billions of other good sushi/asian restauraunts I can explore...
Read moreKeep in mind they already charge an 18% service charge (tip), The food was very good both times and i’m sure they would be much busier if it wasn’t for this server (i’m guessing she’s also the manager based on her interactions with the other employees). I went with my dad the first time about a week ago, at first she was fine, but she was extremely inattentive, didn’t ask how our food was (or even check on us). At this point we had already sensed that she didn’t care. My dad needed more rice to eat with his meal and she took about 5 minutes to bring it out because she decided to start doing something else (we were one of two pairs of people eating here, not busy). Second time I went with my boyfriend for valentine’s day. We came before it was busy yet still felt we were being rushed out. I ordered the gyozas and she kept asking which one. The menu says vegetable/pork instead of vegetable or pork so i didn’t know what she was talking about. She got impatient and got an attitude. When our food came out was when it got busy (packed, however, there was only about 10 tables and 2 hostesses and 2 servers). It is understandable to be nervous with that many people but it is not an excuse to provide poor service, especially when 18% tip is mandatory. However, she again didn’t check in on us, we had to call her over (after passing us about 6 times). My bf ordered chicken tempura with fried rice, the fried rice didn’t come with the dish, but she didn’t say anything for 5 minutes. Then I realize that I wanted sashimi so I try to call her over to order it. Doesn’t even ask what I need, she just says i’m getting it before going in the back. She comes back with the rice and I order the sashimi. Again, she doesn’t come to our table even once to check and or say goodbye thanks for your business, etc. We had to ask for the check after waiting for 5 minutes staring at her as she passes us. I’ve never been there, but I’d say it’s worth going the extra miles to the Pan Asia in Barnegat, anything would be better than this. And to the server, you...
Read moreThis was single handedly the worst dining experience of my lifetime so far. Called ahead to avoid the wait at Applebee's. We should've just waited the 30 minutes! After spending the day at Argos Farm we were starving. Called pan Asia they said no wait come over. We walked across the parking lot with a 1 month old, a 4 month old, a 2 year old and a 6 year old. Get there and wait 20 minutes to sit. After we're seated it takes another 20 minutes to just order drinks. 7 waters and 1 sprite. Before she even came to take the drink order we had prepared to order at the same time so we didn't have to wait another 20 minutes for her to come back. That didn't work because she went to go make waters and while doing that would take orders from the tables coming in after us. Finally we got the water and she ran off again. Another 10 to 15 passes by and I ask the other server if she could take our orders and she threw her hands up and yelled wait for your server as if we had just asked her for something completely off the wall. Finally our server finds her way back to our table to take our orders. We ordered sushi and it literally sat on the counter 20 minutes while we waited for out cooked food. We asked 2 times if that was our sushi before grabbing it ourselves. We saw table after table eat and lave be fore us. The food was mediocre at best and the service ensured we'll never be back. 20% is automatically added to dine in orders and let me tell you I feel robbed. They...
