This place tends to be hit or miss. The food is always good, however, the experience always differs. The ladies that sit you down always have an attitude and act like they can't be bothered. As for the chefs, like I said, the food is always good. The downside is, some chefs make the show you traditionally come to a hibachi restaurant to see, (making jokes, doing cool tricks etc) but some literally just cook and spray a little sakke in your mouth. Nothing is worse than getting a chef that's boring while you're watching another table laughing and having fun the same way you should be. Recently I ordered for pickup, I only got some sushi and hibachi soup(1 cup of broth and a single slice of a mushroom) paid about $20 for it. I told the lady that I was here for pick up, she mumbled asking me for the phone number on the request. At the time I didn't hear her between the music and her low mumbling and she repeated her question with an attitude as if I asked her to repeat herself more than once. I told her the number, paid and signed the receipt and the lady at the desk actually had the nerve to roll her eyes and huff when she saw I didn't tip. Now before you get on my case, I'm always a good tipper, (usually about 20%-25% no matter where I go) but I feel that if I'm ordering food and it's not being delivered to me nor am I being served at a table, why would I tip if I'm paying for just the food and picking it up myself, plus having to deal with an attitude on top of it? Well here's a tip. Serve your patrons with respect and try to develop some soft-skills as it will go a long way and bring you the tips you seek to gain. Read moreI visited Fuji in Lacey around 5:30 PM on a weekday, and sadly, this will be my last time dining there. I used to eat here often and always looked forward to it, but the quality has gone downhill while the prices have climbed significantly.
For our meal, we ordered a Spicy Shrimp Roll, a Boston Roll, and three hibachi entrees (chicken, steak, and shrimp). The sushi was disappointing. While the presentation was beautiful, the taste was heavy and lacked the fresh, vibrant flavors I expect from good sushi. I barely touched mine because it just didn’t sit right.
As for the hibachi, we chose to sit at a regular table instead of the grill, hoping for a quieter night, but the food missed the mark. My hibachi meal was overly greasy, which made it feel more like takeout than fresh, delicious hibachi. The others at my table enjoyed their meals initially, but later on, they felt uncomfortably full and sluggish, which really dampened the experience.
The service, as usual, was just okay. There’s always been a slight language barrier with the staff, which isn’t a big deal, but it didn’t add much to the experience. The restaurant was also completely empty, so we weren’t rushed, but something about the atmosphere felt lackluster.
The final bill for two sushi rolls, three hibachi meals, two waters, one soda, and a small scoop of ice cream was well over $100. Given the poor quality of the food, the price felt completely unjustified.
Fuji used to be a place I looked forward to visiting, but it’s clear that things have changed. It’s unfortunate because I have great memories of eating here, but I can no longer recommend it. I hope they improve, but for now, I’ll be looking elsewhere for fresh, high-quality sushi...
Read moreTook my fiance for dinner last night..we were seated at cooking station for about 19 minutes then given our salad and soup after placing order.then they came after seating people who arrived after our dishes were removed to take there order..then ten minutes after this sat more people and had to wait an additional ten minutes for there last person to arrive.. truly not so bothersome at this point...so everyone orders, but 2 of the people each being from the different families that arrived had food allergies they made them aware of..(completely understandable and no problem on my end with this) ..so instead of asking us if we minded not having the usual ingredients in our meal, they just made everything to the specific needs of the people with the allergies.... I get it cross contamination... But at this point we should have been told.. the people with the specific needs food should have been prepared separately which they do all the time...(Don't want anything bad to happen to anyone with these allergies). Anyway with that being said we didn't make a scene but tried to eat our meals with all of our efforts...so I finally went up and complained about our food only to be argued with by the manager which should have handled this situation with the professionalism of a manager, not telling me then that it's what happens when you have people with food allergies....no onion.. no garlic.. no vegetables...but we had crazy glue clumped rice and tasteless noodles... Yet again I have my own allergies and want no harm to others.. but move the people that want the normal food they paid heavily for.....sorry but food quality was as it you went to Taco Bell and...
