Just left Teays River Brewing & Pub. I would like to start by saying the staff that we had the pleasure of meeting was extremely knowledgable and respectful. Not quite sure the name of server, however I'd give him 4.5 stars out of 5. As for the atmosphere....let's give it the same. A 4.5 rating. As a union carpenter I was pretty impressed. I generally look for defects and abnormalities in drywall and ceiling tiles. Both seemed to be above par. Definitely a huge thumbs up for me. It was definitely classy on the inside and seemed to be more down to earth on the patio. No for the quality food and selection of food. As a food critic, (personally) I would say this is the area that definitely needs the most improvement. We were told about how well this establishments food was prior to dining. This was our soul purpose for the visit. We were recommended food by our server, which was over cooked. Had a few drinks while waiting for dinner dates to arrive. Drinks were very good. Upon friends arriving, we ordered our dinner. 3 out of the 4 guests ordered the same meal. But prepared basically the same, yet slightly differently. Every meal came out prepared compeltely different than what was ordered. Once the complaint came out and a suggestion of improvement was made, it wasn't until we recieved our bills that we realized we were charged for our complaint. The complaint might have cost 50 cents. However, in my eyes, as a patron to a new establishment, this was an insult. However, this isnt a review to completely bash an up and coming restaurant/ brewery. This is a review in hope that the complaints mentioned are fixed to present better business in the future. Anyways, a gentleman later approached our table and asked us about our experience. With another bout of complaints, he forwarded our concerns to the kitchen and presented the 3 unhappy patrons with half off meals. All in all, I would like to give Teays River a 4 star review. Probably would be less but sone problems were acknowledged and remedied. Hope to come back so I can give a...
Read moreAn honestly awful overall experience. I’m not one to complain morally and have been here before and had no issues, but today was beyond unacceptable. From the service to the food it was all around plain bad. The only things that were alright were our drinks and the beer cheese fries.
Our food took over 55 minutes to hit the table, and our server never offered us any time table nor explanation and left us sitting for almost the entirety of the wait, until a “it will be out soon” was given, and since the kitchen is open, we could see our food being put out to be ran to our table, our waitress made it half way to us, turned around, and handed the pizza back and left our other entree in the window, another ten minutes later it was at our table. The brisket sandwich I got was a struggle to even take a first bite out of and immediately made me feel almost nauseous. Brisket is one of my favorite things to eat ever and to say I was shocked at how horrible this sandwich was, is an understatement. I thought maybe it was just a fatty bit and tried again, and was forced to spit the bite into a napkin. The pork belly we got was no linger edible after the experience. The well done pizza with light sauce we asked for was undercooked, and when we told the waitress about the sandwich being nauseating, we were still charged for the uneaten pork belly. I will say the sandwich was comped, but to not receive any explanation from management was a let down. Our server placed the check on the table without saying anything had even been comped, and it was 46 dollars with a tip for an uneaten meal, an hour wait, and horrible experience. Disappointed just doesn’t hold enough weight to explain how sad the...

I REALLY wanted like this place. New restaurants and brewpubs are popping up in Lafayette, and this one is right down the road! The atmosphere feels comfortable, clean, and cozy without being too cozy.
My husband and I came to watch the Purdue/Michigan big ten championship game. We seated ourselves in the bar area with a good view of the TVs. Though waiters and bartenders were running food and drinks to the surrounding tables, we were not greeted by anyone until about 10 minutes into our visit. It took another 10 minutes to get menus, and another 5 to get beer and water.
After having placed our order, we only waited about 5 minutes to get our small salads, and another 5 for our entrees. The food was good; classic pub offerings with a twist (parm crisps on the salad, poutine style fries, etc).
When we finished our first round, I went up to the bar to get our second, as I knew we would get our beers immediately.
Other things that were weird, but did not directly influence this review:
-the beer list was good, but the taps changed often. Some beers ran out, but were still on the tap list.
-there was an older gentleman, presumably in a managerial position, that was in a blue Teays River Brewery shirt. He was behind the bar making himself a drink, and then sat down at a table near us to drink and watch the game. This would not have bothered me EXCEPT this happened while we clearly had not been helped. He has had at least 2 more drinks...
