All it takes is one lousy experience because of an impatient employee to demonstrate their rudeness and indifference to solid feedback a regular customer/patron was trying to provide today with a DoorDash delivery order.
The food was fine, but itâs more important at some taquerias to save on including more than a single salsa verde with an entire 4 taco dinner order, or any lime wedges to accompany the dish, than to make their regulars happy. Itâs a $40.00 taco dinner order for a single person. Have a little classâŠ
I literally have no issue paying extra for another tiny container of salsa verde, or for a couple lime wedges to enjoy with my tacos đź, but thatâs not a choice on DoorDash because the restaurant has disabled order modifications and/or notes via the DoorDash portal. I understand why restaurants choose to disable this feature, but then give customers some salsa and lime with their dinner orders as the default, instead of pinching pennies to lose dollars.
The rude staff member who answered my call today - Thursday March 02nd, 2023 at 1:46 pm CST, didnât want to hear my advice (not a complaint, moreover an attempt to explain to them what it is that annoys customers with scenarios like this), never apologized, and proceeded to try schooling me on DoorDashâs platform/programming, citing itâs DoorDashâs fault. Lol. No, itâs not. Itâs the supervisorâs fault or the ownerâs/operatorâs fault for now allowing this feature in their partnership with DoorDash.
Save yourself the attitude and take your business elsewhere. Thereâs way too much competition in the area to accept this as the norm. Again, the food is not the issue, itâs the service.
Also, donât dine-in (hence why our family would DoorDash all the time). The place smells like dirty rags and mop water because they use the same dirty rags to clean the floor, walls, and ceilings.
I hope youâre happy that we wonât be ordering from here anymore. Such a shame what a rude unapologetic employee can do to a small businessâs reputation and...
Read moreThe rude manager Diego lost customers tonight for $3. We live in Knollwood, across the street from the restaurant. When arriving we sat ourselves, as instructed by the sign at the entrance. We were the only customers there. We ordered the guacamole and the price was $7 on the menu. When we got the bill and were charged $10, I went to the front counter to ask the manager about it. He scolded me, saying "Yeah, didn't you read the sign?" He pointed at a sign on top of the front counter that said due to an increase in cost for avacados, customers will be charged more for any item that includes avacados. This sign wasn't on the tabletop placard and we weren't told this by our server. It definitely wasn't reflected on the menu. We never went to the front counter since we had seated ourselves, so did not see the little sign. I explained this to Diego and he said he'd have to talk to the server to remind her to tell customers about the price increase. I asked if he would take the additional charge off our bill, and he said "No, I won't do that." I said "I will leave a review to warn my neighbors about this and describe your response to this situation," and he said he didn't care. There's many great restaurants in this area. When we choose to go out to eat at the end of a long week, we don't need to be treated like this. Life is too short. It's not the $3...it's the uncomfortable feeling I would have giving this new restaurant in our neighborhood any further business. I hope the owner reads this and takes it seriously. Perhaps it's a good coaching opportunity for Diego. If you want to make it right with this local customer, feel free to respond to...
Read moreTrue foodies everywhere. Tacos El Norte is at best marginal. When they first opened in Mundelein, they really put all of themselves into their endeavor. That was perhaps 25 years ago or more. Albeit, the quality will always beat the numerous fast food chains, that promise hugh, but deliver little in return. If you're wondering what I mean all of us have seen the photos of the food choices offered at the Big Chain Restaurants, the product coming out of their kitchens is hardly comparable to the product you SEE on their menus. Now, as I didn't expect high end and exorbitantly high priced. I wasn't disapointed. But I can think of four maybe five Mexican restaurants that surpass Tacos El Norte.$$ "El Barrio" Diamond Lake, Ill.$$$ "Lomelies" Round Lake beach.$$ "Maria's Mexican" Mundelein$$ Look for their homemade tortillas.đ And of course at the top of the list is "Maya's Traditional Mexican"$$ Mexican food served from the various areas from the country, prepared and served according to regional tastes, textures and old recipes. Su Casa, downtown Chicago, also pretty good, but so...
