Our family tries to meet up and eat out once a week. Mexican food is undoubtedly one of our favorites. Lake Charles and the surrounding area has many Mexican restaurants to choose from.
This week we chose Casa Manana Mexican Restaurant in Lake Charles. I normally write reviews for several corporate businesses when we travel but thought I would begin sharing our weekly dinner outings.
To be completely honest I have not eaten at Casa in over 2 years. I happen to reach out to a friend and learned that she was no longer at Outback and was now in management at Casa. (Dominique)
Knowing that 5 o’clock any day of the week could be busy. I reached out to Dominique to let her know that we would be coming. Our group of 7 were seated and our server was Isaiah. He was knowledgeable and happily gave stellar recommendations and ensured everything was perfect.
Whether you’re craving tender tamales, marvelous margaritas, sizzling fajitas, quesadillas or a great kid’s menu, Casa offered an excellent menu option with a wide range of traditional dishes.
Everyone ordered something different.
Tamale Dinner Quesadillas (Shrimp, Beef, Firecracker) Taco Salad (Fijita Chicken) Kids (Cheese Quesadillas)
The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were generous and packed with flavor. The Tamale Dinner was flawless. The Quesadillas were delicious and flavorful just lacked in presentation. The Fajita Chicken on the Taco Salad was dry and crunchy. I asked Isaiah to take it back and let the kitchen staff know, so they were aware). Management came out and discussed the issue (Jared).
As a person who does reviews, I always try and let management know. Ranting about it afterwards does not give them the opportunity to address concerns with their kitchen staff.
Casa Manana has a family-friendly ambiance and is perfect for date nights or if you’re celebrating a special occasion. Casa Manana deserves a spot on your list of must-try restaurants. I look forward to returning for lunch with my daughter. Thank you to Management (Shane, Jared, and Dominique), I appreciate the fact that management made rounds during the evening checking on...
Read moreVery disappointed in our experience this evening. It was packed but there were tables open that needed to be cleaned. We were told by a manager, Steven to give them 3 minutes to get a table ready for us...they wrote down our name and that we were a party of 2 down on the list...with noone else's names on it. We sat and waited patiently. A table of 3 walked in after us, their name was also taken and put on the list. 10 minutes later, we are still waiting when alot of people started to come in at once. Another manager, Drew, walks up to the stand and greets a couple that just walked in. They needed a table for 2.... he glances at the list, sees names on the list waiting but chooses to ignore it and proceeds to take the couple that just walked in to a table. When my husband makes a comment about us waiting. Drew gets an attitude and says excuse me...do you have something to say. I tell my husband to let it go, it's not worth it. The hostess then says I'm sorry, I know y'all were next...let me seat y'all and takes us to a table. Everything is fine, until we see Drew speaking to the other manager, Steven about the situation and pointing at us and they are both laughing about it. We were ready to walk out, until a waitress walked by apologized and promised to take care of us. If it was not for her, we would not have stayed. It was very rude and unprofessional for managers to act in that manner! I'm very disappointed that Steven or another manager did not come over to apologize or make sure everything was OK after knowing about the situation and to make matters worse, every time Drew walked by us he was smirking and shaking his head....very disappointed!! As good as the food and our waitress was, this left a very negative impact on our experience and we will not be back for a very long time and will make sure to let everyone know about the horrible experience we...
Read moreWent there with a colleague after work. She saw old colleagues from the other hospital, so we sat at their table. My colleague and I ordered a drink and appetizer. I finished my drink and asked the waiter about my ultimate queso that I ordered over an hour prior. He returned with the cold queso in less than 2 minutes. I asked for more chips since we ate the complementary chips 30 minutes prior. It took over 10 minutes to get the chips. On top of that I receive a bill for $45. I tell the waiter I only had the $9 Queso and one $3 drink. He returns 10 minutes later with another ticket that is incorrect and has a order for 1/2 and 1/2. I have the ticket corrected again. Then I noticed the ticket has an 18% gratuity. We did not have a meal and where located at the bar. They explain it expected at a table with eight people. I did not know the other 5 people and did not arrive with them. In addition, after I get the receipt back from the waiter I notice it was a dollar more than the ticket. I ask the manager and he states there is a 4% charge for using my debit card! What restaurant does that?? Also, what restaurant’s bar charges 18% gratuity for people sitting together drinking? I hope this is not common place here in Lake Charles, because this is completely ghetto!! Needless to say, I will never go there again and would definitely say it won’t be a hang out for nurses often work! You wouldn’t want to bump into colleagues and sit together because the bar is going to up charge for bad service! The bar table better not have more than 8 seats or you need to check your ticket;...
