First time customer. Upon entering this establishment I was excited to try a salad as recommended by someone who’s opinions I hold in high regard. I ordered a small grilled chicken salad and asked for no tomatoes. My total was $13.65 and I tipped $2.05.
I know this is a deli, but why have salad on the menu if it’s just gonna be sub-par? (Pun intended)
As the associate prepared my “grilled chicken” salad, she pulled a piece of meat from somewhere, warmed it up in the microwave and nestled it on a bed of finely shredded iceberg lettuce. I mean come on!! Not even fresh grilled chicken or mixed greens?! Anywho, once she handed me my small salad, I asked if she included the boiled egg, by which she responds “yeah unless u paid for extra egg.” Well, when I got home and opened my salad, there was HALF a boiled egg on top. How much more would I have had to pay for the whole egg? Also, to add bacon bits would’ve been an additional $4 which I declined. Lastly when I checked my receipt I was charged for an extra pack of dressing unbeknownst to me.
This salad is a joke. I’ll be inviting the person that referred me to Skip’s Deli out on a luxury dining experience pretty soon because she...
Read moreDecided to try this little hole in the wall Deli when I was working in Lake city. I like to try local establishments and this one was right around the corner. When I first arrived I was not impressed with the atmosphere but it really is the food that matters. I ordered my roast beef sandwich and I asked about chips and what I noticed was that there were pre-portioned potato chips in bags that they gave with the sandwich. It wasn't the worst thing in the world but it seemed a little hokey that they went to Costco and bought a huge bag of potato chips and then separated them into smaller portions instead of have the individually packaged chips. Also all the drinks were either in bottles or you could pour yourself some iced tea from a couple of pitchers. The sandwich wasn't bad but it was definitely not extraordinary. I don't think I will visit this little Deli again but now I know and I definitely hope they succeed as I have been told they have been in town for...
Read moreI have been coming to Skips Deli since I was skipping High School 30 plus years ago. I don’t live in Lake City anymore. But me & wife have property all over Columbia County. So anytime we get the chance to eat at Skips. We’re either calling in an order or coming to dine in. I wish I could give a 10 stars or more. You have a very pleasant black lady that works in there. I want to let the owner or manager know. You have a jewel in your establishment. She’s pleasant whenever we place an order over the phone and when we come in she’s the same. She’s always says a positive word before we leave the building. In this world we live in people don’t care neither do they care about their job. I’m glad you don’t have those grumpy mean old ladies in there anymore. The place is more pleasant now. So just let the black lady know she's a bright star at Skips with a beautiful smile.😊 Skips got the best sandwiches and...
