Was recommended to try this restaurant by our son who is a local and also dined with us then. Now read this review carefully. While I am not a steak connoisseur, I can tell the difference from a steak at Del Monico's and one from Rustlers. All reviews are the experience of the diners and all need to be taken into consideration. The three of us went to dinner. I had high hopes on a good decent meal. Prices were NOT low or high so if you are looking for a "good deal", you will not find it here. But, nonetheless, you will not have to sign out a loan to eat here either. Saw many locals, all retirees. My parents and many family members are retirees so I completely understand living on a fixed income and the fact that as one gets older, your taste buds start to change. It is a scientific fact and will happen to us as well so this is not a critical write up about retirees so don't go there. Had a delicious glass of wine, we took a picture of the bottle so that we could purchase one when we return home. Price of the glass was typical of every restaurant, a bottle at the store costs you as much as a glass at the restaurant. Salad was good for a dinner salad. Selected the Kentucky Whiskey steak because some restaurants will age their steaks but some will not. Some restaurants will season their steaks but some will not. When unsure, ask for one with some sort of seasoning or sauce or something, hint, hint. What was presented tasted like a burnt piece of dead muscle. Thick piece of fatty grizzle which was of course, with my luck, the first piece I cut and put into my mouth. I could not tell the difference between fat and meat since the whole..."thing" was all wrapped in burnt charcoal stripes. Seared is one thing; crispy, gritty, charcoal layers is something else. After swallowing the grizzle, I cut another piece and tried that. It was totally tasteless! How can a steak have no flavor at all??? Just to check that my taste buds hadn't deteriorated overnight, the next night while at Chili's, I ordered a steak at less price and tried that. The steak was good, cook perfectly, not tough, lots of flavor. I tried again in Vegas while at Gallagher's Steak House; again I was rewarded with a juicy delicious steak! So my taste buds were working fine. So anyway back to the review on Montana's. I stopped at two bites. Our son order a filet mignon and he even said that usually the steaks are not this bad and actually ordered steak sauce to get it down. The waiter came back several times seeing that I was not enjoying my steak and inquired. No, we are not the complaining type or cheapo's who eat the whole thing and then complain about the meal in hopes to get it for free. Part of me did want to tell the waiter that it was inedible and just throw it away to see if he would comp my meal, however. Our son wanted to take my steak home, partly because he doesn't have money falling out of his pockets and also because he knows how to "doctor up" a bad meal and make it good. I let him have mine. A potato came with the meal. Now here is where my brain gt in the way, having such a lousy piece of...I am not even going to call it steak but burnt muscle, I tried the potato. The potato was dense and hard not fluffy. Had to coat it with butter and sour cream to get that down. I stopped one quarter of the way through. I had enough. The meal was inedible. Our server was good, we did tip Trent well. Now you may read this review and compare it with others, please do. You may dismiss this review, that is fine and I am not offended at all. It could be that there was a new cook who has no clue what he or she is doing? Could be that I was having a bad night? Could be that it was an off day at the restaurant? Could be a lot of things but since there is 616,008 restaurants in the US and over 200 in Lake Havasu, eat at the In and Out burger or College Inn or an authentic Mexican restaurant or even Gallagher's where you KNOW that you will ALWAYS get a good meal with...
Read moreTruly awful food. Do not eat here. I cannot fathom how anyone would think that this place is good. I think no one at this establishment has any formal culinary training. I ate here on a Tuesday night in a party of 5. We ordered a lot of food: bread, salads, soup, oysters raw and Rockefeller, artichoke dip, beef stroganoff, a few steaks, pasta and crab legs. The bread was inedible. It was dry and tasted like fryer oil had been drizzled on it. The soup was beef stroganoff sauce without the noodles. It was oversalted. The artichoke dip was garlicky, but didn’t taste much like artichokes. It was served with tortilla chips - some of which were an unnatural red color. I asked where the oysters were from and the server could not tell me. An oyster should taste like the sea but these were almost tasteless. The salads were decent, but you can’t really mess up a salad. Mine did have a piece or two of pepperoni in it which I thought was odd. I had the top sirloin steak cooked medium. The steak was cooked well, but not at all seasoned. Two others in my party ordered the rib-eye and both complained that the cuts were full of gristle. They did not finish them. I had crab legs with my steak which were ok, but not near hot. Our server was pleasant, but plates were not cleared before the next course was brought and we constantly had to ask for drinks. Three of us drank, two did not. Total check almost $400. Not worth half that. We paid the bill and tipped our server. We didn’t complain to the staff, but I would never eat here again. Whoever runs this place should eat at a well renowned steak house and take...
Read moreFirst and last time, sorry to say!
Things started well, ended poorly see picture
The wait staff here is rude, entitled, apparently has hatred for people from California and doesn’t care that you don’t know their policies and is happy to get in a nasty argument with you over them.
One complaint all night, they literally CUT MY FILET MIGNON IN HALF!! I’ve been eating this cut for 3 decades and aside from a teppan restaurant have NEVER had my filet cut from the kitchen. So I was shocked, but ended up keeping it and enjoyed it.
They charge 20% gratuity with a big party, that’s fine….but also charge a “conv fee” which is for credit card but they don’t post that on the menu and don’t add it on the bottom as an extra should you pay with credit card! So if you don’t look and pay cash they just get to pocket the difference….super not cool!
Being chewed out by the garbage waitresses when I explained I didn’t know because it was my first time and their sign was in a very bad location where no one would see it was a whole new level of pathetic. Then being questioned “if we were from California” by someone who I didn’t interact with once all night, and had no idea why she even was talking to me.
This place is run down, has the bottom of the barrel wait staff, the “manager” looks unkempt and disheveled, the place smells and has a conference room vibe!
Wanted to love it and have a new go to steak place, very sad they will never get another penny from me! And if you are from Cali and made it this far, they don’t want your business either! They made that very...
