This restaurant has been one of our favorite restaurants since they opened years ago. As you can see the views out the giant picture window are fabulous. This window runs the ENTIRE length of the restaurant so everyone has the same spectacular vie of Thompson Bay. Many people eat down at the bar so that they can be outside but for my wife and I, we prefer to eat upstairs in the restaurant because it's air conditioned or heated depending upon the time of year we go. The menu choices are very unique compared to most Lake Havasu restaurants. The steaks are excellent as are the Surf and Turf meals. The Chef always makes a nice presentation on the plate instead of just tossing the food on the plate like many busy restaurants. The salads are also delicious. This restaurant also serves a very unique and delicious mango fruit salsa to dip the coconut shrimp in that is out-of-this-world GOOD. I love it so much that I even put it on my steak. I have also ordered the Salmon dish and I can highly recommend it. The cajun parmesan pasta is a real tasty dish and will definitely fill most people up. The vegetables they serve with some of the entrees are very unique because they are grilled and they have a big amazing flavor. Lastly, I'd like to tell everyone how great the staff and the servers are. When we walk in we are always immediately greeted and asked where we'd like to sit. Our waitress, Rebecca, was especially friendly and attentive. Ask for her seating area and I guarantee you'll get great service. I think for all the reasons I have mentioned above that this restaurant is far beyond what you'll find at most restaurants here in Lake Havasu. You won't be sorry...
Read moreSad to see how this place has gone downhill. We've been coming here every summer for more than 10 years. It seems that since the fancy chef was hired a couple years back, they've lost a lot of customers. It's usually very busy in the evenings in the summer, I know the season is just getting going, but we've been here in the prime of summer in the last 2 years, and it was just as dead. There was one lady walking out with a to go order when we walked in at 6PM tonight, otherwise no one was at the bar and no one was sitting at any tables eating dinner. I know it's a weekday and that's when always we come (to miss the crazy weekends), but over the years we've usually come this exact week, the week before Memorial Day, and they used to be about 60-70% full at 6PM. The homemade chips that they used to have a few years ago, was one of the reasons we loved it, and I could literally eat the burger and chips 5 nights in a row, it was one of my favorite meals anywhere. They don't have the chips anymore, or the pizza my wife loves, they have a slimmed down one page menu, and the burger was $19.00! Sure it's an Angus burger but the original one they used to have was better in my opinion, and quite a bit less money. We saw some of the same waitresses that have been there for years, feel sorry for them, as I'm sure they are hurting with less customers and less tips. We've always stayed at the Nautical Inn, rented our Pontoon boat here as well, and ate at least 3 of our 5 nights at the Turtle Grill, but I guess we'll have to find a new place, which is sad, as the Turtle Grille used to be one of the highlights of...
Read moreWish I could post a positive but can't do that with already two in a row negative experiences (went a week ago just for a drink).
This experience: drinks ordered by two of us had to go back, one had to go back three times to get it right. Then the drinks, at best, were just average. Service was absolutely horrible. Many customers were complaining about it, the lack of, then rude and inexperienced servers / bartenders. Food was so, so. One server totally ignored us and another group, acknowledging us then ignoring us after we waited for 45min-1 hr w/o service. We then found him chatting it up with other employees behind the bar (after we had to go and wait at the bar to get service). Too bad, the original Turtle bar and Grill used to be awesome! They used to be friendly, have good service with awesome food / drinks. Maybe you can find your way back to the original, quality destination? I will say the atmosphere was still great (even though changed), being more family friendly and the beach was better to pull up to if you're just visiting the bar and grill. The prices are fair and comparable to other, specialty establishments.
Turtle Bar, if you just had decent service and adequate bartenders I would've given you 5 stars. Your location is phenomenal and a great destination for boaters. I don't think we'll be back though until (or if) we hear the service...
