My wife & I are traveling from L.A. and we’ve been living off coffee shop food on our trip to Tigard area. We love eating Mediterranean style food back in L.A. so we thought we’d give Shandiz a try. Wow, what a delight. We did get there near closing time and there was a small group of people finishing their dinner on the outside patio. We dined inside. Either we missed the dinner rush or nobody knows of this place because they have a large dining room yet we were the only ones dining inside. Calm music played throughout. Dinner arrived (we ordered a Greek salad and a chicken kabob dinner which came with rice). To tell you the truth! I wasn’t very hungry when we got there but I ended up eating more than my wife. This food is delicious. And the place sits in a very residential area so it was a very calm environment. We are definitely going back to Shandiz at least once more before we head back home since we’ll be here a few more days. Looking for some great Mediterranean food in a calm environment? I think you’ll love Shandiz. It may be a bit hard to get to at first, so be sure to use your gps. The price was awesome. I expected the bill to be much more expensive but it was probably one of the least expensive meals of our whole trip. They advertise Grubhub pickup so, if you’re into food delivery it’s worth it but you’ll miss the great environment of the restaurant experience. We only had waters but they do have a full bar as well. I’ll try to get pictures the...
Read moreThis is a greek/persian restaurant located in the Lake Oswego area. Reaching there requires quite a drive and the place is located in a building that appears old and forsaken from the outside. However, the place looks very different upon entering inside. Spot seems to have a lot of tables and could house more than 100 customers. Place was fairly empty on a weekday. Not sure how the weekend vibe feels like. Menu has the standard Mediterranean kebabs and some dishes which are not available in the average middle eastern restaurant.
One such example from their menu is the shirin polo. It is a platter which has charcoal flavored chicken breast that is lightly seasoned and cooked just right. The chicken is served with basmati rice stained with saffron, pistachio and orange marmalade. The orange flavor is strong and it is a good dish to order if you don't mind having sweet rice with savory chicken. The restaurant also serves sumac on the side if you request them to provide it. Adding the sumac to the chicken provides an earthy and sour dimension to the dish and definitely enhances the experience. The quantity is sufficient for one person and price is slightly above market at a cost of 22$. But, the higher price could potentially be justified because the dish is not readily available in the...
