Sigh....Missouri Mexican, like Tex-Mex food is a breed all it's own. We came up here for dinner on the basis of the success we've had at their first restaurant in Osage Beach, next to Panera. Outstanding street tacos, good vibe, small joint but food comes fast and it was pretty good. Fast forward to their newest joint in Lake Ozark and it's pretty safe to say that we won't be back. Keep in mind that just because someone is a Mexican, doesn't mean they can cook Mexican food. One star for the young waiter who nervously assured us several times, that our food was coming (over 35 minutes wait time from order to table) one star for the excellent chile relleño which is hard to get, even in So Cal and one star for the decent fajitas, which were served smoking hot. The meat strips were tough in the fajitas and my $13.75 Sergio's Steak was nothing more than a salty piece of 'rib eye'. The WORST part were the hideous beans and rice. The rice was pure restaurant supply and tasted like a boxed mix and the beans would've made my old Mexican grandma turn over in her grave. They were straight from the can, super smooth and a weird brown. Someone must've decided, "hey, let's load these with red pepper flakes and tons of salt and everyone will think they're fresh beans." FAIL. Why? Why? Beans are so cheap and easy to make and they should always be so safe that a baby could eat them, but not these. You get free chips and salsa, but come prepared to wait and wait and wait. There was a very unfriendly, gum chewing woman who was supposed to be the hostess...hey girl, you know the folks that come in and you act like you're doing them a favor by seating them? They're the ones who pay the bills. And where was the friendly owner that everyone has...
Read moreWouldn’t usually give a place such a bad review, but this place if I could I would’ve gave a worse one. Me and my family were going to a smaller Sergios. They were busy and had a long line. The hostess said that they had a much bigger Sergios that could hold three-hundred people and they could serve you much faster! Well, apparently she was wrong. We went 10 miles out of our way to go have dinner at this place when we could’ve and should’ve just went somewhere else. Once we got there, there were people ahead of us that were there waiting before we got there. They took about 30 minutes to seat them and almost another 30 to seat us. Soon as we FINALLY got seated they came pretty fast, but then that stopped. We ordered drinks, one was ok, one tasted awful and one never came. After about 20 minutes! The waitress came and said that they were out of the drink!!! LIKE SERIOUSLY!?! So my family member ordered another drink, never came. We ordered food and it took so long that we were done. We just left. Not to forget! All other food places were closed about this time so thanks for wasting TWO HOURS OF OUR VACATION TIME! Do not!! I repeat DO NOT!!! Come here, unless you want to just sit and not eat. This place was the...
Read moreWhat a terrific Mexican restaurant! Their tortilla chips seem to be home made and are great. They are thin, crisp, light & tasty. Each person gets their own dish of salsa, which is also very tasty. Between the nine of us we ordered a multitude of dishes and each of them were amazing according to my family. I had the El Jefe burrito. It was huge! Stuffed with steak, chicken and shrimp. Three fourths of the burrito was covered in their queso blanco and the remaining fourth was covered in a medium heat red sauce. Plan on taking some home if you don’t have a big appetite. The staff has to be one of the hardest working wait staff I have ever seen. Friendly, efficient and oh so busy! Despite running all over the restaurant, they were attentive & provided excellent service. All in all, a fabulous restaurant! The only flaw was they have way more customers than their space can handle. But the wait for a party of nine was still only 15 minutes and well worth waiting for. I would definitely recommend...
