El Gran Burrito Express (87th Street) — Restaurant in Lake Township

El Grande Burrito, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants on the South Side of Chicago. I've been eating here for a while and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, I don't get to eat here as much anymore do to a location change. However, the last two times I've purchased food from here. My food has been dripping in grease. I don't know if they have a new cook or what. But my tacos, fries, steak fries, etc have been dripping in grease. I thought it might've just been me. But my aunt and uncle said the last three times they've stopped in for food. It was greasy as well. My uncle stated his steak didn't even taste like steak. I pray we're not being served meat that isn't right! We've also noticed a lot of fat and gristle when ordering anything with steak. What's going on El Grande Burrito??? You all were becoming a staple in the community for good food. Now, the quality is going down. It's like the meat is drowned in grease, not drained and then put on a taco or burrito shell. Even the fries have been extra greasy. It's bad when you can't make out the color of your lettuce because it's drowned in grease. Please fix it or we'll just take our business elsewhere! I'm sorry I don't have a picture. We just through our food away due to all the grease!! Fast food, groceries, etc has increased exponentially in cost. It's a shame we loss money and could not eat a decent Mexican meal. ...

The service was subpar and the food was disappointing. When this restaurant was at its original location, everyone was nice, customer service was amazing (making sure you were satisfied with everything ), and the food was good. I was hesitant about going back since the restaurant relocated, but was like I want Mexican food and it’s close to home-however it was not the same. The prices went up, there is a surcharge for using your card, and they got my order wrong. The nachos were nasty and had no cheese on them, but was cover with bunch of sour cream. My burrito was cold and they just made it (cheese not melted). The ladies who were at the front were not pleasant- and didn’t care if they got the order right or wrong. So I ordered steak fries. I asked for my fries to be crispy they did NOT do that, I asked for light lettuce and tomatoes they did NOT do that. The fries were barely cooked it was sooooo much grease in the plate it was leaking out the bag. They threw everything on the plate. the steak is nothing like the steak in the picture, completely different (low quality) and it didn’t taste good. I am very upset and feel like I wasted my money. The tacos were nothing to scream about they were extremely greasy, I felt queasy after eating 🤢. That’ll be my last time. the customer service was good.

UPDATE: I went back they remade my order and it was much better! they’re really nice and I appreciate it. I will be going back. TIP: if you order cheese fries don’t get the peppers they use gardineria peppers and the oil from that will...
