Happy's Fish and Chicken — Restaurant in Lake Township

I've started going here after moving into the neighborhood a couple months ago. The insanely expansive menu is the reason why I think the food is kind of mediocre. There's a couple things they do really well but there's no way to tell a newcomer, what those things are.

Anything that's made of chicken they do really well.

I waited 38 minutes after being told that it would be 20 minutes for a large rib tip. The fries were fresh cut which was kind of awesome however it seems as though they spent those extra minutes destroying my rib tips. Whoever their pitmaster is, needs to learn a thing or two. No proper rub on the rib tips they just over smoked it and dried it out completely.

I think they should eliminate their barbecue menu and only use the smoker for blackening their jerk chicken which is actually really good.

The rice and peas is not appropriately seasoned to be called rice and peas. They need to use coconut milk thyme and allspice I tasted none of these things, it's just bland rice with red beans which is not rice and peas.

Ditch the barbecue put extra effort into the jerk and I think this place...

BEST FOOD HANDS DOWN!!! (And cake too!!! Don't forget the cake!!!) 3 piece chicken and fries for only $3.30 (and it's lemon pepper chicken) The staff are incredible!!! (Although I do miss one of their delivery drivers, and I'm still sad she's not there anymore!!!) Not only are they absolute dolls, but they're also helpful and personable!!! Once you become a regular, (Trust me, you WILL!!!) They'll treat you like family!!! (For example... I’ve ordered from this place a few times in the last couple months. I decided to try them because of their $5 jerk dinner’s. I’ve only tried those dinner’s & They are always pretty good. You get rice & peas off top, 2 sides, & 1/4 chicken…can’t be that price & it’s good. I’ve tried the Sweet potato’s, Mac, greens, & Cabbage.
