Upon entry, i felt completely lost.
Letter size menus on the wall..unnoticeable. Huge garage door. No chairs or tables while you wait. I didnt think we were in the right place.
The order taker was behind this big counter.
One by one, the orders were taken and given thru a walkie talkie. There were like 10 people waiting for their orders. Some had been there a while. It seem we were the order that got the last chickens. People were frustrated thst there were more chicken, mac and cheese, oxtails.. Sold out.
The order taker even locked the doors to keep people from coming in. In fact at one point, a guy was knocking on the door. Another customer let him in as with others, as they continued to come in with a sense of hope in their face, that there will be some food left. He asked the order taker if they had this or that. The way he was reacting to the order taker's reply, i thought he was a hype and this food was his crack! But the order taker said they only had a couple of sides left. he then asked, "do you have anything you didnt sell?" She said no. Meanwhile the guy noticed another gentleman at the end of the counter with an incomplete order. He then asked the gentleman, "I will buy what you have, just name your price!"
Now i dont know what kind of crack was in this food, but when the guy asked the order taker to break a $100 bill and bought his food from another customer, he had my interest seriously peaked! I turned to my husband and said, "what in the dickens is in this food! This food must be off the chain! The rest of the customers stood patiently as their orders can back from the kitchen. It felt like a seinfeld episode where you didnt want to complain at the risk of losing your order. It was almost funny if i wasnt so tired
Why the 5 stars?
The food was off the chain! My husband had goat meat with rice and beans and i had the jerk catfish with yams and rice and beans ...because there was no more oxtails. And my friends the chicken. Not only was the thick catfish was in the tact, the char on that fish was so flavorful and the season ....right down to the bone. Everything was soooooo good, i understand what the commotion was about.
So when u come, bring a bag of patience and some comfortable shoes. Its worth the wait
I didnt have any pictures because i think its rude to take pics of sucked...
Read moreI went to this place on June 28th and what I experienced was unbelievable first off I asked one of the employees can I park in a parking spot that was next to a private parking only spot in the parking lot she said I can't park there read the sign I thought that was kind of rude to talk to your customer like that then I get out the vehicle after parking and proceeded to go in the doors that's coming from the parking lot they said no you can't go through those doors you have to walk around so I walked around to the 79th Street side to go through there just to find out there are metal detectors to go in and purchase food I felt so intimidated SMH they waive the metal detective one around me and searched my purse all to go in to purchase food that I pre-ordered already I was in town from Florida I just couldn't believe it I've been to this place plenty of times before even when they were across the street on 79th never experience any such thing will not be attending this place anymore and the food is not as good as it used to be it was something about the food that was just not sitting well with me it was not season good the jerk sauce they normally use is not as hot and as spicy as it used to be and all the employees are very rude so if you are a potential customer and plan to go there go at your own risk because it definitely will be a experience I normally don't like to give reviews but I had to get my input in on this one I don't know if they were traumatized by something or what but if they feel like they have to have metal detectors and things of that nature to buy food from them they are in the wrong neighborhood go to another neighborhood and you can't be rude to your customers it's because of us you have the establishment so it's no need for to be rude to your customers Jerk Villa you're really disappointing to...
Read moreI went to jerk villa on 79th yesterday (3/13/18)... First of all I called like 5:10pm to order and they wasn’t taking any more phone calls🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ So when I get there I wait in line for 15 minutes and still haven’t ordered so I finally get to order and as usual they NEVER have the sides u want besides cabbage or rice/beans which I wanted Macaroni. So, I proceed to order two jerk dinners with one being a combination with curry goat... She tells me it would be 15mins and of course I waited like 30 more minutes... I got there around 6:03pm and didn’t leave until 6:48pm💆🏽♀️💆🏽♀️💆🏽♀️ I would’ve got my money back but I came a ways for the food... I get home and what do I see majority rice & bones 😆😆 didn’t have the time nor energy to go back so I called this afternoon and spoke to the cashier(manager) and told her what I experienced and of course she made up some bullshit excuse about the combo saying you only get a thigh/leg with it so I said what about my jerk dinner meal(no answer) I just told her that the cooks must’ve had a bad day because I have had better... Instead of giving me an Apology that I deserve she gave a EXCUSE... I told her I won’t be back EVER!!! I’m done spending money in Black owned businesses when you(me) as a customer don’t get what you pay for. It’s bad enough the place needs a upgrade and an city inspection We(black ppl) continue to go back!!! It’s inexcusable when as a customer can’t get what they pay for and get bullshit customer service and lack there of food. Hate to bash black owned businesses but You never get what u deserve🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️💆🏽♀️💆🏽♀️ Last time going to Jerk villa... I’ll stick to @caribbean jerk palace on 79th near Pulaski!!! Just as good...
