Las Islas Marias — Restaurant in Lake Township

I’ve always been reluctant to give bad reviews for a place because there are bad days for everyone, but my dining experience at Las Islas was one of the worst I’ve ever had.  When we first arrived, we sat ourselves at a table but were then asked to move somewhere else. Not a big deal, we were fine with it. When we got re-sat, it took 15 minutes for a waitress to come up to us.  Again, not a big deal, but still mildly annoying. We ordered our food and 2 micheladas. Shortly after, another guest came up to our table and told us not to drink our micheladas because she saw the server drink from ours!  The guest seemed livid (as were we) and spoke to the manager about what she just witnessed. Shockingly, the waitress came up to us to ADMIT SHE SIPPED OUR MICHELADAS. She brought us brand new drinks to ‘make up for it.’ But the entire time, the manager never came up to us to apologize or offer any compensation for the absurd service.  The restaurant carried on as if it was a normal experience for servers to sample their guests food and drink. So, if you want to share your food and drink with the employees but pay full price for it, Las Islas is definitely the spot for you. Otherwise avoid this restaurant, there are so many other better options.

Siempre he mostrado reacion a dar malas críticas para un lugar porque hay días malos para todos, pero mi experiencia en Las Islas fue una de las peores que he tenido. Cuando llegamos, nos sentamos en una mesa, pero luego nos pidieron que nos moviéramos a otro lugar. No es un gran problema, estábamos bien con eso. Cuando volvimos a sentarnos, la mesera tardó 15 minutos en tomar nuestra orden. Una vez más, no es un gran problema, pero sigue siendo un poco molesto. Pedimos nuestra comida y 2 micheladas. Poco después, una clienta se acercó a nuestra mesa y nos dijo que no bebiéramos nuestras micheladas porque ella vio que nuestra mesera le había tomado a nuestra bebida. La cliente se mostró lívida (como nosotros) y habló con el gerente sobre lo que acababa de ver. Sorprendentemente, la mesera se acercó a nosotros para ADMITAR QUE LE HABÍA TOMADO A NUESTRAS MICHELADAS. Ella nos trajo nuevas bebidas para 'compensarlo'. Pero todo el tiempo, el gerente nunca se acercó a nosotros para pedir disculpas u ofrecer una compensación por el servicio absurdo. El restaurante continuó como si fuera una experiencia normal para los servidores probar la comida y la bebida de sus clientes. I went in with my family today and was given spoiled orchata .... it smelled bad and was chunky and yellow. I went to the counter to let them know I needed my drinks replaced and showed them the drink and she looked at it and said she didn’t think anything was wrong with it ( should of made her drink it) but with an attitude asked a lady to give us new drinks. Turns out that the lady was making a new batch of orchata and gave us the left overs of the last and who knows how long it had been there it was hot as well. The fresh drinks were great and super white in color. I use to love this place but I will not be back because of their waitresses as this is the second time something like this happens. I ordered Pulpo a la Diabla with no fries and our friend ordered Uno's langostinos by themselves. What the waiteress brought were Camarones a la Diabla with fries of course no biggie, and the sides on the Langostinos plate. It was a slow Tuesday night. When they brought me the right food it wasn't spicy, it had more of a barbeque taste. They took it back and returned it to me with no change so I just said I didn't want anything. That's just the cooks fault, however the waitress and the manager got upset with me rather than their inadequate cooks. I was the only one out of the whole situation who said sorry twice. I'm not one to complain I worked as a server and in the kitchen, I understand. For lack of better wording, this place sucks. Would not go again. My drink was good...
