I’m not sure who raised the rude af woman with whom I spoke, but she felt exceedingly comfortable commenting at length on my body — loudly and in public.
I was so taken aback at the time I didn’t say anything, but I decided never to go out of my way to stop in again. I’m posting this today because I went back in for a coffee while my apartment is under repairs and the same woman was working the cash register again. I tried to let it go and just get my coffee but I couldn’t remotely feel comfortable in this establishment anymore.
If the owner would like to contact me regarding this, I’d be open to a dialogue; however, at this time I’d suggest anyone in this area to give their business to Spoken Cafe. It’s a much more inviting, friendly place, and the offerings are better. Really.. if I didn’t know any better, I’d swear Dollop was TRYING to push away customers at the Montrose location.
In summation mediocre-to-decent coffee, but HORRENDOUS staff conduct. Granted, this was one person, but it was in full company of her coworkers and nobody batted an eye. We’ll see if the mgmt or ownership end of the company cares, but I’m not holding my breath.

Read moreI love Dollop Coffee for their yummy food, coffee, and friendly staff-- but consistently their hours are unreliable and change on a whim.
Today I planned to work there for the afternoon (after showing proof of vaccination) since online it says they're open til 4:30 pm. However, at 1:50 while on a work Zoom call, I was interrupted by a barista saying they're closing at 2 pm and I will need to get going. This was super inconvenient, and made me seem unprofessional since I had to cut the meeting short and relocate.
If an employee had clearly communicated to me that they would be closing at 2 pm when I chose to sit down and work in the cafe, my experience would have been different. Instead they waited until the last minute and expected me to adjust accordingly without an apology.
Sadly, this isn't the first time this schedule discrepancy has inconvenienced me. I've walked to Dollop twice during open hours, to arrive and find a closed and empty store. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt before, but today left a bad taste in my mouth. My suggestion would be to call ahead and confirm their hours before making plans to...
Read moreMy partner and I stopped into this location to grab some quick coffee to go. We waited to the side and had our masks on the entire time. We’re both vaccinated and pro-masks just to be clear.
At one point, we pulled down our masks for approximately one second to share a kiss and then quickly fixed our masks back into place.
As soon as this happened, the girl with the black hair behind the desk loudly announced from across the room that if we were going to have our masks off we would need to leave or show proof of vaccination. I totally understand this, but to me, it felt like the most bizarre power move especially because it’s not like we took our masks off to makeout in public. It had to have been at least one second where our masks were down and that one second was enough to cause an uproar. It was so strange and embarrassing, I can only chalk it up as the employee having a bad day.
I guess the lesson is: show your vax card here if you want to kiss your partner while you wait for your coffee.
In other news, my latte was okay. Pastries were...
