I really do not want to post this review but I feel that this must be said. I placed a to go order of the following: rice, beans, a large cheese dip, and a fruit punch. I drove 25 minutes from my home and this very simple order was not ready, and they seemed to have no knowledge of it so I had to wait at the drive through for several minutes. The staff was very disorganized and 3 separate people came to ask me what I was at the drive through for. After I received the meal I paid, about $20 mind you, and drove home. When I arrived home, I did not get a full order of rice and beans but half servings shoved into one tin. I also did not get a large cheese dip as I ordered, but a small. If you’ve never ordered from here, the difference in these sizes is HUGE. A small is a very small bowl and a large is in a styrofoam cup! They also did not include the complementary salsa. So, all in all, I paid $20 for an extremely meager meal and the only thing they got right was the fruit punch drink, which was about 90% ice cubes.
This restaurant was shut down for a very long time to undergo renovations, and now that they’re back open it seems evident to me that these huge price markups are to pay for said renovations. The inside looks spectacular, but the overall quality of the food is not worth this much money. There are much better Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area that won’t chinch you or drag your wallet over the coals. I am a repeat customer here but I think...
Read moreWe wanted to dine out to celebrate my birthday, and after two places that Google said were open turned out to not be, we saw lots of cars at La Terraza, giving us the impression that it was not only open, but popular. We got to the door, and YES! it's open! We were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. At every stage, service was fast and friendly. We planned to have guacamole, and after the server described the guacamole Mexicano as "chunkier" than their guacamole dip, we ordered that. It's a bit like a pico de Gallo, with lots of avocado added. Very tasty, and the "large" was a good size for the two of us. The dip that comes with the chips is pretty bland, and they don't have a spicier one, but the chips are good. I ordered the carne asada, and it was also very good, with the meat tender and tasty, the onions nicely caramelized, and the rest of the accompaniments very good. My wife had ribeye tacos, and said those were also excellent. We finished off with churros, and that just confirmed our opinion up to that point. The carne asada came with a thin sort of sauce that I think was habanero-based, so when we return I'll ask for some of that to go with chips. If you like spicy food, you may want to do that, or take your own favorite hot sauce. They do have some bottled hot sauce on request, I don't remember which, but major brands. I ended up glad that the other two local restaurants turned out to be a bust. Well...
Read moreRead the review about how it was the best salsa that this one guy had ever had! Well!! I wanna try the best salsa that he ever had!!!
Salsa WAS good!! Chips were good too!
Girl took our order. I ordered a beef chimi with chili instead of cheese sauce and as my two sides - from the menu - charro beans and stewed potatoes. My date ordered and the girl disappeared. I mean. Disappeared. Food was brought by someone else. French fries. She brought me French fries. I asked about the stewed potatoes from the menu and she said she didn't know why they were on the menu - they have never had stewed potatoes. Well. Shouldn't they have said "We don't have stewed potatoes. Can I offer you French fries instead?" Then I could have chosen my side instead of it haven been chosen for me? We ran out of chips. Found another someone. We got chips. We ran out of drinks. Found another someone. We got drinks. I can eat Mexican food every single day. I love it so much! But this was so so spicy that within two bites my mouth was on fire. That was a problem because this was in the time frame that we didn't have drinks!!
We have scooted down the road with La Terraza in our rear view mirror.
That is my recommendation for you too - just scoot on down the road. Leave La Terraza in YOUR rear view mirror!
The salsa is good but not worth the rest of...
