This is my new favorite place. They really capture that small cafe feel, the food is delicious and flavorful, and the staff is friendly. You can tell it's family owned and in a good location.
Parking: There is a small parking lot in the front, so not that many spaces, but there is ample parking in the rear of the building.
Interior: The interior has a counter when you first walk in, the decor is warm and inviting and, paired with the tables, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in someone's home, sitting at the kitchen table. Where it gets VERY cool, imo, is the outside seating, which looks like a courtyard, complete with a beautiful water fountain in the center, and shade to protect you from the sun I was with 2 other adults and 2 children, and we were all able to sit comfortably at one of the round tables.
Customer Service: Awesome, the orders were accurate, the Staff we're all friendly, and the service was prompt.
Food: Delicious, the food is flavorful, and they have this mild green sauce that is really good, or the red sauce, if you're like me and prefer more spice. There are generous helpings of meat, so much so that it's probably wise to get a fork to pick up all of the meat that may drop out. They also have pastries, including my favorite, the guava and cheese pastry, and churros, which I normally don't like, but these were really good, and they had something inside them that made it that much better. Oh, and they serve breakfast all day! I don't normally eat until 1pm, but I love breakfast, so being able to still get it there is a miracle.
Drinks: The Agua Frescas and Horchatas are magnificent, and not too sweet. The coconut Agua is made with FRESH coconut! My kids got smoothies and love them, and my wife got something called a Mangonada, which I had never had, but I grew up in Chicago, and remember men with carts and they used to make a treat out of a mango sprinkled with Chili powder, so it brought me back, the flavors mix SO well.
Price: The price is probably in line with most cafes, and given everything they make, I say it's a value and a half. I just went back today, and there are STILL things I have to try. I'm talking about the Mexican street corn ;)
Can you tell I...
Read moreEntering Sweet Cups Cafe, you're greeted by a cozy and casual setting, though one that could benefit from a bit more upkeep. The decor is simple, with potential for enhancement to match the inviting aroma of the food being prepared. Let's talk about the food - undoubtedly the star of our visit. Each dish we sampled was bursting with flavor and made with evident care. From the first bite of their signature dishes, like the pastor and carnitas tacos, it was clear that the cooks here have a talent for creating delicious, authentic flavors that satisfy any craving for Mexican cuisine. The pastor tacos were a savory treat, with tender meat and perfectly balanced seasoning. The carnitas tacos were equally impressive, showcasing rich, succulent pork that left us wanting more. Regrettably, the service did not live up to the excellence of the food. The staff appeared disinterested and somewhat bothered when taking our order, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Additionally, the menu could benefit from clearer descriptions and organization, as we found it somewhat challenging to understand all that was on offer. Despite the shortcomings in service and menu clarity, the outstanding quality of the food at Sweet Cups Cafe leaves a lasting impression. The delicious flavors and careful preparation of their dishes are reasons enough to consider a return visit. With some improvements in staff attitude and menu organization, this could easily become a go-to spot in Lakeland for those seeking flavorful Mexican cuisine. Sweet Cups Cafe has the potential to be a standout dining destination with a bit of fine-tuning. If you're willing to overlook some service hiccups for the sake of exceptional food, this place is...
Read moreThe breakfast of perfection... Sweet cup Cafe is a tiny little cafe in Lakeland Florida You can't miss it it's a pink building with very little parking, But oh is it worth a stop!!! In all of the restaurants in all of the states across the country that we go to, one thing is universal - It is extremely rare to find a place that has both good food and good coffee. Sweet cup Cafe is one.
They have a small but exquisite menu with a solid selection of specialty coffees.
Service was more than friendly and helpful. It's obvious that this place is someone's passion and love, and it shows throughout the experience.
Steve had the breakfast burrito and I had the chilaquiles which is like breakfast nachos. The flavors are amazing and you can tell everything is cooked with love... All of the tortillas are handmade. The burrito was stuffed full but still manageable, filled with deliciousness. The chilaquiles were presented beautifully and every bite a savory delight.
But the coffee.,.. oh the coffee. We are not really specialty coffee connoisseurs, But we both insist on good coffee as we drink dark roast organic at home and rarely find anything as good at restaurants. I ordered a drip coffee with brown butter and almond milk and Steve just had a regular drip coffee with sugar, both were an enlightening experience. Served in wide stoneware mugs, the experience was as good as the coffee.
Please go. You will not regret...
